Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

Can we trust Marvin his LT to rectify their mistakes

The reason the current organization is so large is failure by the current management to control costs when oil was $200 a barrel. We are now facing cuts of up to 35% of Shell staff to save $1billion of overhead costs. Meanwhile senior management are still flying in private jets, chauffeured limo's and racking up thousands of miles in the air. So the question has to be asked, is this current Leadership Team capable of making decisions to lead us into profitability when it could only succeed when oil was 4 times the cost. If you add the other mistakes to this crisis such as the massive losses in the great Shale Fire Sale, Alaska groundings (yes multiple), the ultra expensive Culpepper Towers and the worst safety record in Shell it looks bleak for the current management team. The question Van Beuren has to answer is who can he trust to lead the Americas out of this crisis?

You are correct anonymous1237. Unconventionals is an absolute mess along with the rest of the company. I know that jobs get cut in a time of crisis but the way Shell is doing things is absolutely unethical and down right nasty. I got my walking papers last week...

The unconventionals line of business is a complete mess. The degree of favoritism and incompetence is mind-boggling. There are so many “untouchables” who are management favs. Middle management has a bunch of poor managers with consistent poor reviews by employees and nothing is done about it. If Greg and HR are sincere in cutting the right people, it should be the many managers who are misfits! Look at the SPS results, HR files and feedback from staff. The business is not making money and you keep paying these guys big salaries and bonuses while the real hard workers are silenced or shown the way out.
