Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Working at Boeing - BDS Global Engineering, Huntington Beach

I have been working for Boeing (BDS Global Engineering, Huntington Beach) for over eleven years now and I feel pretty good with the overall situation here. I know that this site is about layoffs and I also know that we occasionally lay people off, but at the same time I can tell you from my experience that all companies cut jobs and that cannot be avoided in this day and age. Boeing is by far, regardless of the job cuts, the best company I worked for and I have over 20 years of work experience as a Project Engineer. In short, my team is great, we have a comfortable work atmosphere and people are focused on getting work done. I especially like flexible work hours, benefits are good if not better than our competition and above all our folks are amazing. Over the years, I’ve had a chance to work with some amazing talent, top notch engineers and problem solvers. There is a few pet peeve things that I will not drill down into right now but if you are researching if you should come and work for us I say do not listen to negative feedback about layoffs that you see on this site, focus on positive things and do not worry about RIFs.

Boeing layoff of El Segundo employees is not a surprise. The company let go many older workers in the last 12 months. These older workers were forced into retirement.

The Aug 2015 layoff announcement was expected. Many employees have been whispering about it.

Management at the executive should take responsibility and not blame on EXIM Bank.
