Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Do you anticipate "Class Action" against Q at some point considering unethical business practice?

I agree with Anonymous127321. I don't understand why people are so frustrated. If you are an old timer, you might have made lot of money.. if you are newcomer, why complain? layoffs are part and parcel of economy? you got through QC interview, you can get through most of other companies too. i am not old timer but i can see company made many people rich, why ppl are crying so much is beyond my understanding. having been in few companies in down time, i think QC has its own issues (some major like performance review, lack of growth, politics etc) but overall its much better than many other companies.

127313: Because they're usually called collective actions if they involve Title VII, ADEA, ADA, Equal Pay, or other non-wage federal issues.

@ I'm A Lawyer: You watch way too much TV. Corporations generally don't get into "collisions" with employees. "Defamation" is more difficult to prove than just pleading that your director gave you a bad review. It's generally a loser in an employment suit. "Retaliation" requires that your employer take an action against your for exercising your right to report your employer for EEOC or other violations. As for FMLA, read the statute.... They'll file a 12(b)(6) or a Motion for Summary Judgment and you will be lucky if you don't have to pay their outside counsel's costs and fees. (I'm thinking low six figures. After all, QCOM can afford the best lawyers money can buy!)

Also it seems up to now, Q has been able to control somehow mediatization of the way it conducts its business internally; for instance, there was very little media reporting tragic suicides that happened in the workplace, considering the size of its organization.

Here is another great example of why this country is going downhill. You jokers think you deserve it all. If you are a good SMART dependable employee, then you will most likely always have a job. If you are like the OP, probably mediocre and gets by but at the same time, rides the band wagon when he/she can take advantage of any situation, then comes onto forums like this and wants to sue a company for taking action, then you are a major loser.

127313: I agree with; it's amazing they have been able to avoid or maybe settle them without anybody knowing; I think big difference between startups and big corporations is big corporations have the army of lawyers and the bank account to settle or win lawsuits: money talks.

Qualcomm has patent attorneys. Let's see how well they handle, collision, violation of FMLA, retaliation, defamation of character and so forth. They'll settle out of court of you've got documentation
