I’m told 35, 18 in the office and 17 on the floor. I fear that this is not the end of it. The Pampa plant is famous for pulling off miracles in manufacturing, this in spite of a poor dysfunctional management structure. Even today we cannot get ordered parts out the door on time, this is due solely to the fact that our management is always fighting each other, cannot get along, and are inept in their jobs.

Yes the layoffs here can be partially attributed to a slowdown in the market , but overall poor management can also be blamed for some of it as well. Our managers here are holding on to their jobs not by their product knowledge but by what they know and have on each other, it’s a rule by fear here and always will be.

Just as an example, someone should look into this plants HSE managers expense reports, one of his earlier reports is an out and out forgery as directed by the plant manager. This was created to cover for petty cash that was misused and un accounted for. Direct knowledge of this action was uncovered by accounting, reported to the plant manager, the accountant also advised the rig up supervisor as well as the manufacturing manager…all of which covered it up. This is the same type of actions that rule this plant and will ultimately close this plant.
