@110339: Atheros acquisition was worth while. atleast it is adding revenue/profit to Qualcomm's profit sheet. Check your facts.
M&A won't register immediate profits, those are for long term and for market dominance. Also, it helps completing the portfolio in short duration. I agree that number of managers/directors/VPs are high but you can't fire them. Remember, some of the same people worked their ass off in past just like engineer/senior engineer. They earned their designations. Some of the losers should be let go, you can easily spot them.
Nokia/BlackBerry have some different issues. They never adopt to new technology but Qualcomm is making smart investment in new business. You can't deny that. Of-course you are reacting based on current stock situation which is natural, but don't forget history is on Qualcomm's side. They always clean swiped the wireless market in short-time. Example, LTE/WCDMA.
I think within 2 years, I believe Qualcomm will up and running like Ferrari. Sit tight and fasten your seat belt for next 2 years.
