Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Stock will continue to go down

  • M&A will not save QC despite S&M's statements. Intel will dominate in the data center. Competition will crush useless managers at QC. How can QC do well when too many projects keep failing and obsolete managers aren't fired ?

B. Failed projects by old, finger-pointing execs who don't do any work will continue to down QC.

D) Stock buybacks, RSU printing press can only last so long.

@110339: Atheros acquisition was worth while. atleast it is adding revenue/profit to Qualcomm's profit sheet. Check your facts.

M&A won't register immediate profits, those are for long term and for market dominance. Also, it helps completing the portfolio in short duration. I agree that number of managers/directors/VPs are high but you can't fire them. Remember, some of the same people worked their ass off in past just like engineer/senior engineer. They earned their designations. Some of the losers should be let go, you can easily spot them.

Nokia/BlackBerry have some different issues. They never adopt to new technology but Qualcomm is making smart investment in new business. You can't deny that. Of-course you are reacting based on current stock situation which is natural, but don't forget history is on Qualcomm's side. They always clean swiped the wireless market in short-time. Example, LTE/WCDMA.

I think within 2 years, I believe Qualcomm will up and running like Ferrari. Sit tight and fasten your seat belt for next 2 years.

M&A will not save QUALCOMM at any stage....the Atheros acquisition is one example.... the biggest issue is the number of managers/directors/VPS....does any company need so many of them? the incessant politics to get promoted to the next position is the one which will kill QUALCOMM.... it is a cultural decline just like companies like Nokia, blackberry suffered from .......

there is no respite in sight....apart from layoffs!!! and that too in big number....

Stock will go down, because Q3 revenue will bomb. That is real data. QC forecast has already guided down, but the drop will be bigger, because Apple market share in China was much bigger than expected, while the total smart phone sale was down.
