Thread regarding ECMC layoffs

I understand it was your job to come after adjuncts on comments or the lack there of. The comments requirements has got to change, it is ridiculous. Sorry if you lost your job, but I hope that when the PL's are gone, we can get back to teaching and not grading on outreach and comments.

How do you feel now that you've been laid off, EUO PL?

To comment on every students quiz and papers they haven't done yet is stupid and a waste of time. And yes, it does take a lot of time and takes away from the instructor to do better posting and responding to students in other areas. This is a part time job, you don't pay enough for all you want. If you demand stupid little things be done, then I will reduce work in another area eventually if you keep pushing, I will just give everyone 100 on everything without spending the time to really read it because you demand too much. Let the teacher decide how to respond or give us a template we must use on every thing. Stop complaining that we don't put enough in comments, that's where the sore spot is. Adjuncts are not allowed to be adjuncts as we used to be. It takes way too much time to do all the weird little comments on every one and you don't pay for it. Students don't read comments on quizzes, nobody does, so stop requiring them.

I have never left feedback on quizzes in all my years with this business (not a real school) and never been called out on it. Who added such a crazy requirement? Another tactic to try to make these 'students' feel good and keep asses in classes? What a joke.

PL...are you for real? Quizzes can be taken over and over, and all the students have to do is search the book. There is no thinking involved. Therefore, no instructor comments are needed. "Good job finding the answers in the text!" "Glad you took the quiz over. As you could see, guessing doesn't always work. Looking up the answers from the textbook you have never read is key".

I didn't get the memo we are to leave comments on quiz grades. I don't see that in the faculty expectations nor have I ever been coached on doing that...

Prove it! Anyone can make an off-color comment like that without any facts or articulation. Where's you're proof that Hawn is so bad?
