As we fast approach week zero, I am reminded of the webinar the other day where we were told that RIFs will be coming. As it happen in the past, the Riff occurred on the Friday of week zero. Who will be Riffed this go around. A very reliable source says enrollment is even lower than at the beginning of the mini term and this is a full term coming up. Something surely will happen I feel based on the lower enrollment.

439, I rode it out also. Been there 13 years and Zenith was the third owner. Same as you hoping they could turn it around. It made no sense in the people they left go because a lot of the people were some of the best employees that worked there.
Ride it out, are you kidding? I was in a position that was administration, record keeping, and 5-6 other duties. Worked for 2 other owners, for almost 12 years. I thought I would ride it out, wait for the new owners to improve the situation. Guess what, I was laid off because I made too much money, had too much seniority, and possibly age was a factor also. I was replaced by a younger person at half the salary. That's what you get if you ride it out. And no, I was not a manager, and I enforced the rules. They didn't like the fact I would not do unethical and illegal things. So you have a choice, compromise who you are or leave. My layoff was a blessing and I am better off now. I can sleep at night, can you? Run when you get the chance. Just my humble opinion.
338, miss out on severance? Severance amounts to 2 weeks pay. I wouldn't quit until I had another job because you give up unemployment benefits but, I wouldn't put all hope in Zenith. I would start searching for another job. With enrollment numbers dropping there will definitely be more RIFs.
PLs are only doing what their PDs are telling them to do. The idea Zenith has is to start being pickier about what students they enroll. That's a good idea, but it's going to result in lower enrollment. I've been through this four times before with other companies, and I've always done the same - ride it out. Why not collect pay as long as you can? It doesn't make sense to leave and miss out on severance, unless you have another job lined up.
I like the " right sizing " thing. However, the only right size is Zero students and zero employees. There is no way this fraud is going to survive. They can't start new programs, their starts are insignificant and half of the illiterates they start, drop a few days after starting school. What a mess!
@109209: Good thing you have your other adjunct job lined up. The future for Everest is bleak. The nitpicking from PLs, PDs, and Deans was to a level of ridiculousness. I teach at multiple schools and they treat you like a professional and allow you to teach. I have better students and none of the places make you do outreach and talisma data entry tasks. Leaving Everest was THE BEST decision I have made.
Buh-Bye Zenith. If you haven't moved on from this horrid place already, you can continue to watch its demise. You'll also see more micromanaging and senseless tasks to try to keep students that do not care and can't write a complete sentence. The Everest name, hidden under Zenith, is tainted at all costs.
I figure each term I will be let go as an adjunct professor. I did get classes this last time, but I just don't feel its going to last. I would like to stay teaching here, but the petty nitpicking little rules drive me crazy and are way too annoying. I have an adjunct job lined up for later this year, but I'd rather stay at Everest. Just don't know what the future presents. I suspect a teach out, thus at some point it will be futile. The picky little PL's keep hammering on the ridiculous things, which tells me they either think we will continue or they just keep justifying their existence in hopes of keeping a job for as long as they can. I wish we had more control as teachers and STOP counting the posts and such. That's absurd and doesn't help the students to frustrate the teacher. I have hope that the school may wake up and get away from some of these rules and back to good teaching, since they let go some dead weight that brought in the rules, but so far it hasn't happened.
Soon everyone will be gone.
Another major RIF coming the end of the month. Enrollment at all campuses is at an all-time low. Rumor has it it will be less than a thousand so it will not be covered by the Warn Act like the last one. The people layed off this time will not be paid for 60 days. They will be given layoff notices and a two week severance package. The lucky ones were the ones who were in the last RIF, they got 60 days pay. Remember the email sent out by Hawn after the last RIF stated he is still in the process of right sizing staff to student population and will continue through June 28.
