PJ stepped down, because S&M play the “I-have-another-offer” card. PJ probably would have stayed on for a while and rode his success. Maybe he had others in consideration for succession. Maybe there were people jogging for position. So, S&M beat everyone to the punch. Maybe that is what is takes – take a lesson from S&M for what to do, and from PJ for what not to do.

PJ stepped down because he knew that things were about to get rocky and he was going through a nasty divorce because he picked up a Canadian chippy as his permanent booty call.

S&M is not cut out for this job. He rode the success of the chip sales that benefited from promotion of the chip ecosystem. He brought in Atheros, which added very little to the QC bottom line. We are getting exactly what he could do before he became CEO. He has hands-off management style, and so, why expect any more from him?
101286, Agreed with you. SM is pretty worthless.. Had first hand experience with both SM and SJ.. SJ is nasty but awesome leader. Will follow his lead in a heartbear.
I agree. He doesn't deserve this bonus while everyone else gets less and less.

the problem is with his massive bonus....SM doesn't deserve such a high "retention bonus" .....such bonus can be given only to people with caliber of Sanjay Jha.... Sanjay's exit from Qualcomm was the worst thing to happen to Qualcomm
