OK, if Qualcomm is going to regroup and grow, why do it in San Diego?

They have managed to keep SD going by importing cheaper labor, but it is cheaper still to sell the land and mode the operation offshore. It has huge tax savings and lower infrastructure and employee costs and will make the company far more streamlined.

Why wouldn't they?

Also it is a fact that when the city approached Qualcomm about naming rights to a new stadium Qualcomm left the city with an impression that they were done in SD.

101091 - QC has 40+ buildings. They have created mass traffic issues and working with SD to resolve. They say they are done growing....for the moment and you take this as QC is washed up..... HAHA!. I have some great swamp land for sale. Call me at 888-555-1234 and I can hook you up.

Qualcomm flat out told the city they were done growing in SD when they asked about naming rights to a new stadium.

Cash on hand and regrouping is better done overseas.

The only reason Qualcomm stayed in SD as long as they did is the Jacobs. SM would rather be elsewhere.

Anyone who thinks the QC future is in SD is just not paying attention.

101049 - Over in in SD? Seriously, your another Douche bag with near sighted issues. QC has plenty of cash on hand to build up new momentum and keep the company growing strong. Your caught up in the now moment. Get over it and stop spreading bullshit info.

Unions are about giving a company bottom up structure to offset the people like SM who could care less if you live or die.

It isn't about the company surviving, we know it's over in SD, we just don't know how long it will take the corpse to fall.

It's about giving the working guy a piece of the big pot before it is all gone.

Unions can only work if the US government collaborates in limiting imports. One hand of the government supports unions to get vote, the other hand make trades deals that end up shipping job abroad. So, at the end unionizing only works for government and public services, where unions could cripple the community and expect government officials to cave in. The answer is to become more competitive making products in US. Unions have no answer for that. “Made in China” is not a Chinese problem, it is an American problem with many willing Americans to facilitate, including the consumers.

Get real. It wouldn't surprise me if at least half the EEs at QCOM in S.D. are here on H1B or similar visas. Do you honestly think they would actually PAY union dues--assuming they were willing to rock the boat?

Walmart claimed the plumbing was broken and closed several stores. The QCT toilets are messy, that may be a sign of things to come.
