Thread regarding Cameron International Corp. layoffs

My 2 cents - Specific to valve sales teams

Gotta laugh at some point. For me, I'm many weeks past the date of my fake meeting, luring me into the office, only to find it was a layoff. Why should I have expected anything different? The F-ed up reorganization of the valve sales groups was an early warning... I chose not to trust my ill-at-ease feelings back in January at the sales meeting. Couldn't have done anything different anyway.

Now to my point - many valve companies have done the same things - they hire a consultant, pay them millions to tell them what they're doing wrong. (gotta wonder, is it the same consultant company?)... Jim retires, God bless him, no heartburn from me at him, but that's where it started going wrong. Management hires newbies from where..... Halliburton?? What the fk do these guys know about valve sales? Then everyone's name gets thrown into the computer, where some idiot has filled in the blanks to a series of questions about you, and then voilà - the list of suckers who aren't worth keeping on.....

Good gawd. Newbies in management deciding on a massive reorganization based on what? a consultant's recommendations? I've just gotta say that its truly a shame that so many good people, who have served the Cameron conglomeration of brands for their lifetime, and now, in their 50s or 60s - get shown the door based on such a silly assed set of circumstances just makes me want to vomit.

Best of luck to the laid off masses - I knew many of you, and hope we meet again. To those still with Cameron, I have mixed emotions - happy that you still have a job during this awful downturn, yet sad that you're going to endure the mistakes made by the new management team. I know each of us have our own set of issues to deal with - I'm not altogether sure that keeping the job was better than getting laid off.

Best of luck to all, and a quick recovery of the oil & gas business, so we have a fighting chance at getting back to work so we can eventually afford to retire.

Consultants not only in V & M - Just come over to IT in Houston - You will see only only again only consultants charging $270 per hourplus hotel plus Travel (+ Night clubs)- one side they are laying employees after employees and other side they hire only consultants from India - Cameron is collaborative for sure with only Indian Consultants across the floor - some where it is smoking........
