I have worked for McKesson for ten years - eight of them as a remote employee. I can tell you I don't sleep or watch movies... I work 10 -12 hours a day. Are there people who take advantage of being remote? Yes... But they are quickly flushed out as they do not perform or deliver. Companies make strategic decisions based on numbers nothing else. They want to be profitable. I know I am expendable and if it happens I have my plan B... As everyone should. The recent round of layoffs were a lot of talented and experienced people it wasn't because they sucked at their job. It was a business decision that had to be made... Nothing more.

I don't think I am on the chopping block... I was responding to some other posts about layoffs with McKesson and how they do it to "clean house". I am sure some of the people who are laid off are slackers but in my experience most employees served with this notice were outstanding and high performing people. I think it is a disservice to those who were laid off to say they were because they weren't doing their job. If I lost my job tomorrow I know I could look in the mirror and know it WAS NOT because of my performance but a strategic decision. I do my job, I do it well and I work hard for this company like all my co workers who were told last week they no longer had a job.
Why do you think you may be on the chopping block? Because you are remote?
