As one who has been there... COBRA is usually so expensive that is it unaffordable. If you are older, have existing medical issues, etc. and cannot afford COBRA and apply for private insurance on your own - you will most likely be denied ... and if approved the cost would probably be higher than the outrageous COBRA rates. For people like me - the ONLY option was to either go without insurance OR sign up for Obama Care. Thank you for giving me an option ! Maybe the next discussion should be on the insurance and medical industry that is not affordable for most American citizens and companies!!

Sign up for covered California and tell them you're broke. They will subsidize most of your monthly payments!!

You can rollover your 401K to a qualifying plan, but all other benefits end tomorrow. If you have the medical flex plan hand have dollars remaining, you must spend them by tomorrow or lose the money. Go refill prescriptions. Order and pay for new glasses. Get the kids to a clinic for immunizations and check-up.

No, I missed the meeting. Are they letting us do COBRA where we just pay the insurance ourselves?
