"Other shores'? I've thought about "other shores" and the expat life, but never really looked into it (too cowardly or too lazy... maybe both).I'd be interested what you can say in this forum and still maintain anonymity. Maybe it's time to consider casting a vote that really counts by "voting" with my feet. Whether I stay or go, I know one thing -- it's time to make a righteous noise about this abuse of the American middle class and its attack by the H-1B visa program. What the? So, they're not even going to investigate? Period? Case closed? Apparently all the flag-waving over the years about looking after American jobs and taking care of our own is just smoke and mirrors. All the warm n fuzzy commercials, the political speeches, the Made in USA tags; it's all been what we in IT technically call a "lie." You know what, folks? This country and the slimebags that run it can kiss my ass. Never thought I'd ever say that and really mean it. I know a couple of people who had the resources and left for other shores and are doing very well. Tempted to follow them. It sounds insane, but it sure as hell can't be any more crazy than spending the rest of your life having every job you get sold out out from under you and starting over again and again. Like a song I heard song says: "Whirlwind life of faith and betrayal; Rise in anger; Fall back and repeat." No thanks.
Not to add yet another insult to injury, but this is just getting %#$&ing ridiculous. Check this crap out:

Funny, I thought that was how it was supposed to work. Doesn't make any difference: Congress and the "captains of industry" are the small group of interchangeable sociopaths. The Department of Labor just refused to open an investigation into to the H-1B program as requested by ten Senators a few weeks ago. The deck is stacked against us. The bosses and our elected "representatives" are the same people. Don't expect them to help, or to care.
"Congress should protect American workers by mandating that positions can only be filled by H-1B workers when no qualified American - at any wage - can be found to fill the position."
