Nothing wrong with incenting the youth at colleges. But wasn't Bob a very short-timer at DST? 1 to 2 years max? And he made changes that a lot of people and management didn't exactly like? Changes that didn't pan out in the long term? Whats the deal with the award "still" in his name? A lot of DST employees have now passed away, and I don't see them being remembered in anyway. Gould made out with the best compensation of anyone in the company too. He was no starving artist.

Bob Gould could have changed DST by firing all the entrenched execs. Then hiring experts, and forming partnerships with other firms. Had he lived, DST would be a 1st class firm.
Nobody is libeling Bob Gould. I re-read all the posts. All had comments like "progressive, shot across the bow, needed shake up, good guy, success". The only person mentioned negatively was the guy complaining about summer internships, and it sounds like he was punished for that! Re-read the postings.
Bob Gould was president of DST from 1984-1987. We died early, but his impact is still felt
In the Financial Services industry. He worked for Fidelity for years and led their success in customer service. He was growing DST when he was there and he helped raise that company. Read about him before commenting on stuff you know nothing about.
That aside, the award if for innovation and it recognizes hard work and creativity. Who cares about the name.
I know Mr. Gould's son. He's a great son, husband, father and hard worker. F*** all of you who would post, comment, and libel this great man's legacy.
You mean "payback is fair play" ! Yes its easy to sink someone at DST. Just say a few things and poof! Career is worth nothing! That's why I went to work for H&R.
Only an idiot would walk around the office and complain of the CEO's son working at DST on an internship. Its always best to keep your opinions to yourself, act respectful to management, and give people the benefit of the doubt. Unless this guy was someone in H.R., he was in no position to dictate who works internship slots. Wonder if Bozo-brain is still at DST or if a summer intern has taken his job?
While @ DST, I didn't suffer fools (including back-stabbers, gossipers, unhelpful people). I got my justice upon them - hence my nickname of Victory - as in "I won-you lost". Be careful who you try to backstab at your job - you might bring 10X more stabbing on yourself. Payback is hell. Serious!
Yes the management folks at DST were very sensitive when it come to rumors of "he doesn't like you". If management thought you were critical of them, your career was lost, and you would get absolutely no where. Thus people shot themselves in the foot (I mean career) often by gossip..
Not everyone liked Bob Gould of course. I did. One employee complained that Bob's hiring of his High School age son, for summer intern work, was a violation of the child labor laws (it was not). I let Bob know of this troublemaker and the dude's career was probably stalled as a result. Never insult the Boss's son! Capice?
Bob Gould gave stock options to new hires that exceeded what existing execs had and the vesting period was shorter. It was a shot across the bow. Also came from McDonnell, as the guys that expected to get promoted into the job were ignored for Gould. So it was a shake up to be sure!
He was a shot over the bow, so to speak, for long term DST management to think out of the box. Brought in over existing executive management head's, he was planning on bring in more East Coast people to make the cowtown more uptown. Had he stayed, big changes would have happened. He was a good guy!
Bob Gould was the President of DST. He started in about 1985, died on 1986. Had a heart attack at home. He was a lifelong "east coast" financial executive, brought to Kansas City to obviously make DST better. Like a lot of execs in new jobs, they feel the need to make an immediate difference. Hence lots of changes from the old way of doing things were introduced right away. He wasn't there long enough to see the changes through and I am not sure if they were effective. Instead of promoting existing long-term Kansas City born and educated DST execs, he was brought in (promoted) over their heads, as kind of a example of the company wanting to be progressive at any cost.
Who's Bob?
