I feel deeply for the innocent students that are being negatively effected by this. As a Heald modesto graduate, I can not fathom that Heald wants students to support them. Let us not forget that we wouldn't be here and NONE of this would be happening if HEALD WOULDNT OF BROKEN THE LAW AND ALSO LIED TO STUDENTS!!! Heald was the one that lied about graduation and job placement rates. And Heald is the one that sucked students in to selecting Heald by deceiving them. It is unfortunate that Heald wasn't able to sell, but only because of the negative effect it has on students. Regardless of who made it difficult for Heald to sell, and in turn forced them to close, IT WAS HEALD THAT BROKE THE LAW, FALSIFIED INFORMATION AND FORCED AUTHORITIES TO IMPLEMENT CONSEQUENCES. It was HEALD'S concious choice to deliberately LIE & BREAK LAWS That has left 1000's of students stuck without a complete education & 1000's of great teachers without jobs. Lets be realistic and not buy in to anymore of Heald's lies by blaming anyone other than HEALD. they broke the law and deceived 1000's of students. And they deserve the consequences, it's a travesty that the students are harmed in the process.

Heald and CCi were investigated by multiple state and federal agencies. If it makes you feel better to believe that they've done nothing wrong, and that 947 = 3, we're not going to be able to change your mind.
@423: Who was their sampling? The ones that complained? Of course the ones that complained are going to say they got nothing. I'll say again... for a graduate to be verified IF the graduate was working somewhere before they graduated/enrolled, both the graduate AND employer have to say that the degree was a factor in them getting a promotion/being a catalyst for future promotion/to retain/update necessary skills. I like how you obsess over one detail when the other details speak to an auditing process that is clearly flawed. As if the sampling of the students they talked to can't be flawed either. I don't believe that Heald is completely innocent. I KNOW that some campuses did completely unethical things. I totally believe --and am glad-- CCI is shut down and I hope that the people in charge become prison girlfriends for some of the students they fleeced. I'm also not blind to the fact that the problems were NOT systemic. You talk about kook-aid drinkers... I see people like you as 'The World is Flat', roid-rage mouth-breathers who latch onto a notion and refuse to see the possibilities of something else. Because... oh noes! There's no way you could possibly be wrong about something! That would make you imperfect.. and that's contradictory to what your helicopter parent, awards-for-last-place upbringing has brainwashed you to believe.
369, read the fine letter from the DOE to Corinthian. They spoke to students who said that they didn't get raises or promotion at the jobs the had since before going to Heald. I honestly cannot believe this koolaid-drinking bullshit. No wonder this school closed it had idiots like you who cannot both to read the fax. & repeat stupid ass shit as if it were true. On your head is out of the sand or your ass, hopefully you'll see the truth some day. Until then shut the f*** up with your bullshit lies
What's really disgusting is that even now, after the business is closed, Heald officials continue to lie. "Oh, it really wasn't 947. It was an accounting error." "Oh, we didn't do anything. It was the California AG's fault." What about all the other agencies? The SEC? The Veteran's Administration? The Consumer Protection bureau? And please, are you telling me that more than half of the students who graduated from criminal justice programs are dead? No, you enrolled students with felony records who were unable to be placed in their chosen field, but didn't bother telling them that before they began. You thought your actions would go unnoticed, but they didn't, and now you're paying the price.
@332: Wrong. It's 947 findings by auditors that had no clue what they were looking at. They say that Heald shouldn't have claimed a placement of a person who had worked in the position before graduation? It was not claimed unless the employer or student specifically stated that the degree was valuable to promotion or updating skills. The auditors did not take that into account. They only saw 'Oh... he worked there before he graduated. They can't claim they placed this person'. Heald does not 'claim' to place an individual that it did not directly place. They shouldn't, anyway. There is the option when inputting a placement for 'Campus Assisted' or 'Student Initiated'. The auditors said Heald was lying about numbers because deferrals should have been counted toward the percentage of graduates that found employment. Really? So you're telling me that even if a graduate is dead (and it's happened that a graduate died before finding employment) they should be counted as part of the ACTIVE employment pool? If a graduate is arrested and in jail, it's still the school's responsibility to find him a job, thus keeping him in the active employment pool? The verification process for placing a graduate is complete bullshit but that's how it is. Information that CCI wouldn't give to verifiers are asked of graduates. I could go on and on about it but most people wouldn't even understand, those that DO understand don't have to be told how horrible the process was. I HOPE that this Gainful Employment is made mandatory for public schools also. I'd love to see how the 4-year colleges measure up. (I know... that will never happen because it's the 4-years that line the pockets of politicians when it comes to Education laws. See how 4-year schools have been able to get rid of the competition?)
Where would you be if you got a degree from Stanislas state? Oh yea unemployeed because you are stupid
You are just too stupid too get a JOB don't blame Heald for that moron.
Nope, 947 extremely egregious falsifications. The career services reps had to make their numbers look good for their regionally bosses who were on them to keep them high. The regional managers wanted to make those numbers look good to make the programs look good to prospective students, who would then take out loans for six quarters, making money for the school. You guys keep trying to make this about the CA attorney general. What about the SEC? What about the VA? What about the attorneys general from other states? What about the Consumer Fraud Protection Bureau?
If people only got to see the details of the "findings". This 947 findings was mainly three findings for every campus, program and program level. It's not 947 independent, unique finding of graduate placement records.
So if we are to blame "Heald" who exactly is that? Admissions Reps who had quotas to fill (set by CCI) or lose their jobs or perhaps the campus president who was also following direct orders from higher ups? I attended Heald 20 years ago when it was still a non profit & had an excellent reputation. I acquired great skills & wonderful job opportunities. I tried the Jr. College route several times but realized I needed the extra guidance and motivation provided by a private college, so I paid for it. 20 years later I have my MBA and was a truly dedicated instructor at Heald for two years. Once again, please explain to me who "Heald" is and why the Attorney General for CA could not hold them (and only them) responsible for wrongdoing while allowing the 16,000 students and dedicated instructors to continue changing lives for the better. In a recent survey 85% of Heald students were satisfied with their instruction, classes, and support from "Heald." I doubt you will get that from a Jr. College.
