Eric isn't far off - honestly MOST of the IT team was either IN India or working for an Indian firm within the US when I was there. I can't imagine THAT changed much.

Well every day we get email from abhi letting know who he kept and who was let go. most of management stayed. It has nothing to do w race. As far as cuts it will be, but they are doing a lot of effort to avoid layoffs but there will be in 10 to 20 percent layoffs. I must say so far this process is done efficiently. Progfedionaly. They use ur performance in creating the pool of candidates for each position.not bad

Eric, you're a moron for playing a race card. Just because the CIO is Indian and you don't have an Indian sounding name doesn't mean you may lose your job.

That CIO turned around his previous department and made it quite successful, and it WAS NOT outsourced to India. So maybe he was hired to fix the mess that is going on in IT. That place was due for major purging of management and employees. With comments like yours, I hope you're one of those to be let go. Walgreens doesn't need people loke you.

You can't tip something that has already been tipped. The 80% of the IT workforce at wag is cheap labor already and it is not going to get any worse. Unfortunately remaining pool of employees, especially middle management, is flooded with certified nimrods. When a company revels in cheapness and mediocrity like wag does, it is really hard to attract real talent to come and work for you. So, quite a few of these managers and architect types are seriously s.o.l if they are let go. Having said that, It doesn't look like they are going to cut that deeply. It appears more like a stunt of an aggressive/clueless CIO loudly announcing his arrival by confusing the sh*t out of everyone. I am sure senior leadership practiced serious zen meditation and achieved ultimate enlightenment in two weeks when contractors were away. But other than poetic mission statements, elegant reorg charts and townhall meetings fueled by rousing platitudes, I don't see anything meaningful coming out of this stunt.

Correction: so far, based on an email received yesterday, the IT leadership team now has eight 'American-sounding names' and only one 'Indian-sounding name' so I don't see that our 'Indian CIO' is tipping the scales to India or Indian firms. Let's not get crazy here.

That is disgusting! I have seen the same trend in the company that I work for. Long live Wall Street, the heck with our communities.

Monday - IT layoffs of senior leaders, and the next level down, have been happening all day. If you don't have an Indian sounding name, your chances of retaining your job are slim to none. It is awful for the community, there are only 10-15% permanent IT employees left.

The new owners don't want any local employees, there is a drive to shift all IT jobs to India, or to Indian firms , and the new Indian CIO is happy to do so. There is no nation or community support. Wake up people, this happening in a company that has hundreds of qualified local IT professionals.

Deerfield and the surrounding suburbs will lose thousands of jobs by 8/31. The trend will accelerate in 3 weeks.
