Given the tax implications of NOT having health insurance, and the cost of COBRA, if you are over age 40, it may be beneficial to negotiate several months of paid health insurance coverage. Also, if you go without insurance for more than 60 days, your next employer's health coverage may not cover your preexisting conditions for awhile.

I'm betting it will be closer to the "FREE" t-shirt. Maybe this one will be 100% cotton....

I heard the package includes 3 paid-months plus one month for every year you suffered. So if you have been working like a slave for 9 years, they will release you and you will be a free man with one year paid-time, not bad, ha?

The rule of thumb is two weeks for each year that you worked here. But given that we have more big bonuses to pay PJ and SM someday soon, we might need to dial those back a bit. Say, two days for each year you worked here? I know it seems a bit harsh, but now that your fellow Broadcommers will soon be looking for jobs, as well, you need to be grateful you're getting anything. I mean, c'mon, multi-million dollar exec bonuses require everyone to tighten their belts a bit more. Signed M. Sterling
