Thread regarding ECMC layoffs

FTFs layoffs

It has been stated here that all FTFs are going to be laid off. Just how is tutoring, group homework help and group tutoring going to work? Have adjuncts do this? How much commitment can they get from adjuncts to do all of this? I am not arguing that they are not going to go with the layoff, just saying they can't be seriously trying to do right by the students and gut these services. This what makes a school.

663 the end of June is 60 days. It's called the Warn Act, any mass layoffs must be given 60 days notice. Now as far as layoff, CCI nor this company lays people off. It's called a Reduction in Force which is a termination. Go read your termination letter you were given, it states that this is permanent. If you want to live a fantasy and think you are on a layoff and are going to be called back to work, good luck. Some of you are about as good at reading as the idiot students.

Why are we on a layoff site if we were terminated? Also why was the date pushed to the end of June if there wasn't a possibility of being called back? I'm not saying we are but it seems like the door is still open.

Enrollments are high, you're the one smoking something. I guess that's why they terninated 1500 employees because enrollment is up. You fing trolls and idiots come to these sites just to screw with people that are down. Of course no one has got their severance yet, you won't get it until the 60 days are past. Go read your termination papers, you were terminated not laid off. No one will be called back to work, it is a permanent termination. What a bunch of fing idiots, no wonder you were terminated. You people read about as good as the students. Dave Hawn couldn't care less about any of us.

386 you are right. Any moron can push students online, automate all content, assign a "name" as an instructor and let the students pass or fail. loan assets will be down by 20% but overhead will be reduced by 80% . whoever is left will churn those loans and ECMC the nonprofit pockets serious cash even before they tally up loan collections. ACICS won't care because they play the whore of babylon role. Used over and over.

Nobody cares about tutoring or anything to do with student success. As long as there is a class and a name to go with the class Zenith is happy. Collect the money and who cares about education.

Lets be real people. Enrollments may be up, but not enough to support any programs. Hello.....we just got rid of most of the AS degrees! Some people are blind with hope. ECMC is a debt collection agency. Lets be real people

Enrollment is at an all-time low. When I was RIFed population at our campus was 400. Projected starts for July was around 80 leaving a projected student population of around 300. The last RIF was 33% of the staff stripping most support departments. Only 1/3 of the RIF were instructors which leaves way too many instructors for the upcoming students. I suspect there will be another RIF the end of June and it will be mostly instructors. The last chance to get the enrollment up is September and it wasn't looking very promising. If the numbers don't look good by August I expect a teach out and closure. Also, no one was laid off, we were all terminated. These companies don't lay employees off, they terminate them. That's what happens when it's a Reduction in Force. So don't believe the few idiots here that are screwing with you about being called back, no one is going to be called back to work. You don't get severance pay when you are laid off.

Hey 170, stop screwing with people. The wording on the letter says this termination is permanent. No one was laid off, everyone was terminated.

Hey Anonymous103170, it is obvious you are with the remaining staff of the company. My layoff notice said nothing about coming back. Please, do not raise the hopes here with these lies. The school has a real low enrollment coming up and it is most obvious. No full time employee is being rehired. More full timers are going to be let go and that is the truth. Regardless of what this new company wants the school to be, the damage done by CCI was so great that new students are not looking at Everest or Everest Online as an option. It really is a shame to see people be so hurtful with false truths here. Remember, these full timers who were let go were supporting families with their pay and loosing a job is devastating. Your lies only rubs salt into the wound.

174, how many are left, willing to do this, and available for the once a week commitment during regular business hours for the group homework and group tutoring. No school I know have these live lectures done by adjuncts. They will have to do away with these if there are no FTFs at all.

Before moving to FTF, adjuncts handled the tutoring and were paid an hourly rate for any tutoring they did.

They aren't riffing anyone in June. Again, summer enrollments are high. The plan was and has always been to have a high quality NON PROFIT career college. Changes are always disruptive initially but ECMC/Zenith has always had this as a goal. Not everyone will be brought back at once. Some FTF have already moved on obviously and others don't want to come back. When you received the layoff notice it did say you could potentially be called back. Be ready.

You get what you pay for, adjuncts usually have a primary job that pays much better than the shitty part time low paying gigs they get from these schools.

Enrollment is at an all time low! Lets not kid ourselves. Severance pay has not been mailed out so you know how tight money is right now.

No one is getting riffed. Enrollments for the upcoming Summer term are high and they are bringing back full timers who were let go.

It's no longer about the students. It's about minimizing loss and margin profits prior to closing. Think money not education.
