Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

Most Unethical Company

If you've been laid off here's a warning. You've been marked as non-rehirable. Sabre's DPM policy is that managers have to rate a percentage of folks as unsatisfactory, meeting expectations, and excelling. To prevent themselves from ranking current employees unsatisfactory, managers rank those who were laid off as unsatisfactory. For those who are still employed, don't think you will get the great DPM you deserve. Management is directed to rank you folks according to their bell curve formula. I have NEVER worked in a company led by so many unethical members of management who will lie about anything and everything. Their practice is to promote folks to management because those folks have a good amount of knowledge but their personalities are such that they should never be allowed to lead people. The groups are so fragmented because of the various remote locations and DFW management is too weak to pull the teams together. Dolly needs to be kicked to the curb along with some others. Such a sad state of affairs for what was once a good company.

Remember the employee survey you took? One of the questions asked was "Would you relocate?". Now they know ahead of time if you would be willing to relocate. If they want to lay you off, they will give you the option to relocate and if you decline, you are out and no severance.

Very true. I had almost every employee rating I gave them, lowered. Very sad to have to go back and rate employees who know they are highly successful as average only to meet the bell curve.

Dealing with Devs and QAs in BLR - CYA is all they care about, trying to trip any one up so they can play the blame game and make themselves look better (hey, I have an idea, just do your job and do it well). Their noses are firmly planted up management's backside (which is the reason why they are getting more work). Backstabbing is a daily activity, no team spirit and huge lack of common sense. IMPOSSIBLE (and exhausting) TO DEAL WITH.

They are moving whole project teams to Bangalore, one is affecting many people in Krakow. Krakow, people who actually KNOW what they are doing, their projects are being sent to Bangalore where they could give a crap about deadlines or quality of work. Some US jobs are also being moved with this reorg of projects. People are told they have a certain amount of time to look for something or move with the job or they are done. I don't believe they get severance in that instance....so it's all about the money.

Projects to Bangelore. Haha. What a joke, they'll never learn. You get what you pay for - 5 devs to do what 1 local developer can do. A disgrace to America.

I can't believe that people are just now realizing how toxic the environment and management is. They play gaimes and will never be called out for it because management is so incestuous.

This is all to cut costs. All they are doing is cutting their own lifeblood. Entire projects are being moved to Bangalore to lower costs.

This just feels like the beginning of a death spiral.

I've known about the bell curve and managers being told by HR to change a review to a lower ranking. I've also heard of many people who were laid off and told they are not rehirable due to their DPM that they never even reviewed with their management prior to being laid off. Sabre is losing their foothold and because of that they've employ unethical, unprofessional, and inept management and HR personnel.

Totally agree with the above. HR is actually going back when a manager refuses to mark someone down and doing it anyway so they can meet the new bell curve. Then they are forcing managers to put those employees into a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) just to torture them some more. I have heard horror stories just this week of things they are doing to these people when they know they will lay them off anyway. They are making people's lives hell, people who have give 20+ years of service to the company and never had a bad review. They are also relocating jobs and telling people they can relocate or be gone and trying to get out of paying severance that way. The most unethical company I have seen, they are horrible.
