Thread regarding Devon Energy Corp. layoffs

So very sad

It's late and it is hard to think that I won't get up and go to work. I am sure that many will be as me that find a lot of their worth in there job. This is what I thought it took to exceed at Devon. This evening I find myself alone, depressed and wondering if life is even worth living. Feeling worthless and wishing to never awaken from my sleep.

I hope things are better for you! Curious how you are doing and your outlook at this point?

I totally can relate to your comment about feeling worth from your job. I was in the CHK layoff after dedicating myself for seven years. At some point we have to learn to work to live and not to live to work! God does amazing things during those times if you can watch for the signs and open doors. It is so hard to leave friends and work family too! But you will adopt some of those lifelong friendships! Your life is never worth taking for any reason, especially a job! Do not let them take away your self worth because they don't dictate that. You are worth more than gold! Good luck and hang in there...better things are available!

I'm happy for you. Deep inside, you know there is something more. Something more satisfying than how things were. You are about to find it. You will know when it happens and from then on you will feel wonderful. He only asks us to reach out to Him and He will do the rest. Been there, done that. The truth really will set you free.

I went through the CHK layoffs and thought things couldn't turn around and oddly enough I ended up at DVN because of it. I just recently left and took up another opportunity. I would have never known about this one if it weren't for the hard times I had been through. I promise it gets better. Take a weeks vacation. Even it if it just driving somewhere and clearing your mind. Reach out to others that you know were a part of it and join a kickball league or something and call yourself some ironic name that pokes fun at the situation. You have to make the best of it. Yes it will definitely be hard right now. Find one that thing that makes you grin just a little bit right now and do it! One of the most humble things could be to volunteer your time, it could really impact your life. You could bike around downtown and see all of the wonderful growth and opportunity in front of you. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, chase after it!! Good luck!!
