Thread regarding Heald College layoffs

Let's all get this one thing straight…

WASC accreditation is one thing, articulation between schools is another.

An articulation is an agreement between schools. If Heald has an an articulation agreement,

Heald's classes are considered to be equal to that of another institution, and a student's class will transfer.

Accreditation is not necessarily a guarantee that credits will transfer between institutions, although it does make it far more likely.

Heald might have accreditation, but probably does not have many articulation agreements with other locals jcs or other four year institutions.

I'm from Oregon, I graduated from Heald when Heald was not for profit back in 2003, right after that I transferred to Portland State. I did not like Portland state that much so I stopped going. But recently I transferred to Oregon Tech.

Since I'm a former Heald and had good experience, I'm just trying to help people here who needs advice where to transfer easily and cheaply.

I do not work for Oregon Tech, however, I will graduate this year December Go Owls .

Regards

Please don't make false statements, call Oregon Tech and ask them about credit transfer. Heald gives head start, do not need to repeat any courses. I do not advice to go to any for profit colleges, that is why Oregon Tech is the right pick. It is state university and will charge same tuition to out of state if taken online.

A career program is not the same as as an education that prepares one for a career.

Heald articulation agreements are a joke. The vast majority of courses don't transfer.

The specifics of articulation agreements are fluid as courses change on both sides. When a receiving school evaluates another school's curriculum, it usually uses the description from a course catalog to determine which courses offer equivalent content. So, as content changes, courses may be added or dropped from the compatibility list. Also, schools do have the discretion through testing to require students to retake classes. For example, many CSUs have required Heald students to retake basic English because they are not ready for college-level writing.

Heald Honolulu has articulation agreements with three four-year universities: the University of Hawaii, Hawaii Pacific University and Chaminade University.

Heald credits/degree transfer easily, you can take courses at Oregon Tech (state college)online, from anywhere in the world. Credits never die, WASC(regional accreditation) is all Oregon Tech requires.

My main point is ITT TECH is allowed to operate even though state universities will never honor their credits. Heald Associates degree will transfer at Oregon Tech easily. I have done it, I'm a senior at Oregon Tech.

One thing I can tell you, is that Heald has many articulation agreements with other local colleges and universities. If you are looking to transfer, which many are likely to be doing, bring copies of you unofficial transcript when you investigate other colleges so they can get an idea of what you might be transferring in. I can say that the articulation agreements are a strength of Heald, and there are people with great skill in establishing and maintaining these agreements. I am not informed, however, on what happens to those agreements after a school is no longer in operation. Do the agreements stand? Would a knowledgeable person please respond?

In order to get accepted at Oregon Tech, Management and Technology Bachelors Degree, Associate Degree is required to get in. Thanks to Heald Associates Degree, I got accepted in the bachelors program.

Articulation agreements state that some credits are transferrable. It's up to the receiving institution to determine which and how many units transfer.

I'm sure some classes like GenEd will articulate, others like the medical classes, not so much.
