DOE working on a process to help federal student loan borrowers submit a defense to repayment of their federal student loans.

Hello Original Poster (Student), I'm not expert and I don't want to mislead you but I believe the US Dept of Edu is currently working on a process to help federal student loan borrowers submit a "Defense of Repayment" which is a stipulation in the FASFA financial aid app. If your college broke state law or made other violation then you probably will have to go through the process to get your federal student loans discharged or written off or whatever the legal term is. But that doesn't include private loans, etc (or at least that's my understanding). There is a group of students/alumni refusing to pay the loans back because of the fraud. Please let me know if you want to learn more.

Guys! The bandwagon can only take so much students. It's already overloaded in capacity. If anymore stipen and current students jump in wagon, the axle will definitely breaks.

Wait and see. I suspect that ALL of Heald student loans will be forgiven but it won't happen overnight.

With Heald soon to lose its WASC accreditation, they need to shut the doors and not do a teach out. In the end, the students will have worthless degrees and no way to get their loans forgiven since they got their diplomas.

My point to op is this, get the facts before you make any decisions. Don't trust posters on an anonymous board. The student aid website listed earlier is a great place to start.

308, the

Document says nothing about units being related to loan discharge. The issue is that other schools may not accept the units. That's the same case now. The other issue is that he may not be eligible for a discharge if he quits now. He'll probably get relief soon.

Heald is still regionally accredited by WASC, that means other WASC accredited schools will take those units. Doesn't sound like you know what you're talking about, you just want to mis inform the students.

If op has $25,00 in debt then they are pretty close to graduating, so it's be foolish of them to just walk away from those units. There are plenty of schools willing to take those units.

Pretty sure you'll get the discharge as messed up as this place is. And don't worry about those worthless units! Geez these Heald idiots.

Sorry, stupid autocorrect, I meant to say units you've earned not United.

Did you know that if you discharge your loans you won't be able to keep the United you've earned. Make sure you know the facts before you make any decisions. The department of education has a website setup to help you https://studentaid.ed.gov/about/announcements/corinthian
