Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

They signed, They spent and now they have to pay, that's what happens when you grow up.

Single mother with kids... The only wrong doing was the thought that she actually knew/understood what she was getting herself into. Kind of like when she had children before she knew the outcome of that. These people are and have been coddled by the system with 'welfare' and other 'government assistance', so much that they are used to asking for it and getting it.... When your child says can I 'borrow' 20 bux? You know it's not a borrow and so do they, that 20 bux is long gone. Well this is not your mother or father this is life and this is the government, get used to it or drop out. You're all grown up now and I am sure that you knew what you were doing Suggs, Raven and Moore and all three of you know who I am, I'm the one that helped you each of you and never received buy in or anything that you agreed to and signed regarding Everest University Career Services. Let's see...Bus Passes that were exchanged for cash, hearing assistance (TTY) not utilized 'because I want my husband to be my translator', so CE and re-enter Everest to get your MS in Criminal Justice, no more Career Services calls and you still get paid (STIPENDS) and not have to look for work or contact Career Services One of the good ones (Suggs) had the audacity to say 'I have kids and I don't have a car' so find me something that is PT and close to my house and not loss prevention, ' I really want to be a probation officer or counselor'. And then there is Moore who decided to pull the CCI Care card to look like he had (mental) issues when signing the loan documents... At the same time he's surf internet 'chat rooms' all day. NO REALLY... HE INFORMED MUCH OF THE CS TEAM OF HIS DAILY INTERNET USAGE.. EVERYONE HAS THIER SHARE OF PROBLEMS AND TRUST ME WE ARE ALL TIRED OF HEARING YOUR BS, PAY YOUR BILLS GROW UP AND QUIT YOUR COMPLAINING! YOU ARE ALL 'STIPEND HUNTERS' THAT HAVE CONSUMED THE AIR AND NOW YOUR CREDIT CARD HAS BEEN REVOKED ANDYOU ARE CRYING HELP, MIS-REPRESENTATION, LIES AND 'I WAS NOT TOLD THAT'. It truly amazes me how lies get attention when a lawyer that sees an opportunity, and misrepresents individuals, on word only. Wait that is what lawyers do... LMAO! =Q-1 + =X-2

895 - You don't get it. They don't have the money, they will never have the money. Every other kind of debt from medical to credit cards to gambling can get discharged so why in the hell should training be different. That is all that any college is these days, is very rough job training that often won't even fully apply or be current when someone finally gets a job. The vast majority of degrees are completely worthless if someone hasn't found a job within 5 years and yet stupid people like you think someone who is 25-30 right now, just finishing up school after spending 6 years of their life trying to cram time for the classroom around birthdays, holidays, jobs, and vacations and now they should pony up half of what they make until they're 50 years old to pay for job training. People like you conveniently ignore the bald fact that without a degree there is a tiny subsection of the economy they can even look in, and that subsection is vastly overcrowded and doesn't pay enough to survive. So once again, they have no money and they aren't going to pay, and any punitive measures you take simply suck money away from local businesses and often prevent the graduate from working and EVER paying it back.

Blah Blah Blah Kid,

You just don't get it and you probably never will.

Loans are loans and if you sign on the line you are responsible, it did not say "if you don't get a job we will refund your money. so pay up

Kid if you are so concerned why don't you do something instead of trolling and giving your BS when ever you feel like the answer is not correct per CK Dictionary. I say you should go and join the CCi (few). Or go blog somewhere else, you obviously don't know anything about regulations and loans. Have you applied for your Penney's card yet???

174 - Credit is a sham.. The bald fact is even if they get a job (which usually takes the average grad well over a year), they are going to be making less than one of their peers a decade ago and have probably 4 times as much student loan debt. It runs counter to human nature for a 25-30 year old graduate to pony up 1/3 or more of their income for over a decade rather than dating, getting married, or getting into a house. What good does education do when all the person has to show for it was wasting most of a decade getting the degree and wasting at least another decade trying to live like a pauper to pay back some bank that didn't even loan real money in the first place? These dollars won't just appear out of thin air, if graduates actually were paying back the trillion that is owed, it would derail our economy instantly because countless landlords, businesses and banks rely on the economic activity of younger people to survive. I laugh at people who say nonsense like the OP, it just shows they have no grasp of math or economics, which sadly about half of America is totally clueless about. I wish I could escape but it is hard without a ton of savings and knowing someone in another country. I fully expect America to slide further and further down like we have been doing since 2000 until the point our economy crashes.

161 Yup. Even worst if their credit scores are bad. I'm sure that none of them would want to ruin their own credit standings if they have jobs.

Maybe they can pay with pocket lint? You seem to miss the obvious point that they don't have jobs that pay enough to ever pay it back, and probably never will.

I'm sure there are Everest, Wyotech, and Heald students who have done well. And I'm guessing that "BONEZ" is not really an educator. What kind of teacher uses abusive language (not merely profanity) to prove a point? What kind of teacher would continue to work where they had little respect for her students? What kind of teacher would rationalize the ruthless behavior of the administration and its predatory use of recruiters and marketing?

Hey Cumdump, go screw yourself. You never worked at Everest or Wyotech so how do you know what we as instructors do? I've helped hundreds of students gain the knowledge and professionalism for a rewarding career. I've also seen far too many students miss class, sleep during class, never open a text book, never take a single note and refuse to attend tutoring or review classes.

"It's not what you know, it's what you can prove in the court law." I'm sure we all heard that saying before. Why didn't CCI deliver? I don't get it.

I watched a story about two Everest nursing graduates who say they were ripped off because they could not find a job. I felt sorry for them until I heard the rest of the story. They both graduated and passed the state nursing exam. Now I'm confused if you ARE a licensed practical nurse through your state, then you were not ripped off. Perhaps they should practice their interviewing skills or their hygiene.

I am glad to see some of our graduates stepping up and speaking. I have worked at Everest for about 6 years now, and what I see is the students who attend regularly and follow direction generally got the result they were looking for "a career." Others came in trying to customize a system that was already shown to work..I need to miss on this day...I have to leave early...no one told me about the attendance policy etc. Those students did not get the outcome they desired, but they also did not follow the direction that was given. I graduated from a traditional 4 year institution, and guess what Career Services consisted of a lady pointing me towards a binder with job leads in it. No one seemed to care whether I got a job or not. I am a proud Everest Educator. I change lives.

Oh and I did not qualify for any stipends, grants or anything that would have lessened my financial "burden". The ENTIRE loan is mine to pay and I am still fine with that. Of the 19k I borrowed, half is owed to the Feds and the other half is owed to Genesis...and now my genesis loan is 40% less because of the recent litigation. I am very glad to have had that amount reduced, but I would have happily paid the entire amount because I took out the loan without being forced, coerced or lied to. i wish CCI would contact me or use my story in the hopes of defending themselves against this Corinthian 100 BS. There are students out there who did well and continue to do well, why isn't anyone talking about that?

As a former Everest "Graduate" I knew exactly what I was getting into. I knew what I was signing up for and I knew what the cost of this school would be. And unlike most of the people in my class, I showed up, I paid attention, and GOD FORBID, I actually studied!!! GASP! I know, right?? Isn't that what being an adult is all about? You make choices, you pay for them???? I actually READ the paperwork I was signing.

While I worked to get good grades I noticed that majority of my classmates dicked around, we were all given a refresher on the mods we studied the day before our tests. If you paid attention you would notice that the teacher was actually giving us the answers without straight up saying "it is _". Even with the teacher giving us the answers a lot of the kids didn't pass. And you know what, I bet these were the same jack-asses who barely scrapped by in high school. I had absolutely no problem getting hired by my internship location after I graduated because I worked my ass off and showed them that I knew what I was doing and would be a good choice for a future employee. Yes, it started out as a low paying job because I was a brand new grad. I took all the experience I could get from my intern and you know what I did??? I applied at other places. I didn't cry about making a low wage. It was expected. The admissions people SHOWED ME THE JOB PLACEMENT RESULTS. And they weren't great. But I really wanted to further my education. I have had ZERO problems saying that I am Everest grad during interviews. I have since found better employment after leaving my original location. That was over 3 years ago and I now I EARN almost double then what I started with. Because I applied myself, I didn't complain all the damn time. I showed up to work on time, I did the job expected of me and I received raises and even recommendation letters when I left. I can pay my student loans THAT I EARNED and signed up for. And I am still glad I went to school. These loans are mine to pay off. I refuse to believe that people who work hard and are really trying can't find jobs. What the problem is with our society is that we have been coddled and entitled. Everyone gets a trophy even if you suck at what you do. Everyone has to be treated fairly. Blah blah blah. How about you work for yourself and when that fails, its something YOU are doing wrong. It's not Everest's fault. At least it isn't in my case. I am still in contact with a lot of my old classmates and the ones that dicked around can't pay their loans, they can't find jobs and they did terribly at their internships. If, and maybe when, the Government decides to clear out all these loans just because of all these complainers, then you will be witnessing the continual collapse of our society. How does writing all this debt off help the rest of our country? The money doesn't fall off the trees, people. It will come from taxpayers, you and me and your family. Not these idiots who don't work and don't pay taxes and live off the teat of America. Life is what you make of it. I made something with the education I received. It was the same education everyone in my class received. They chose to not use it.

@BONEZ, so what's your angle for saying this? Do you feel guilty, or have you been able to rationalize your complicity of working for COCO?
