Thread regarding ITT Educational Services Inc. layoffs

ITT MUST CLOSE

With the current leadership Barry S and others this company must close. This is all about their money. They always say that all of their decisions is based on the good of the students. Translation..., please sign up and will be happy to take your money and give you nothing in return.

Not only that, they lied to me up front about the cost, and I was expecting about 1/3-1/2 what it ended up being. When they have you sign an all new bundle of crap every 3 months the only way anyone would have known is digging out a stack of loan papers and adding them all up manually, which is both depressing and unlikely to do anything but cause panic even if it was only 1/3.

565 - That is how much a bachelor's from ITT cost at that point, probably costs even more now.

@431 - "best of my class" and "went to ITT" and "100k in loans" doesn't add up. What smart person spends $100k at ITT???

I don't see how this place has even made it this long - I was the best of my entire graduating class and transferred in a year of credits and still ended up 6 figures in debt. There are basically no entry level jobs that pay enough to ever pay that back, and the price has gone nowhere but up since then. Their greed and terrible practices are just going to get worse and worse and worse as people who got suckered by this place increasingly say f*** the payments and give up rolling a boulder uphill. Most people in the last 5 years are running out of deferrals or deferments and once those start to hit ITT's numbers they're going to be facing extreme pressure from the government to shut down voluntarily or be shut down by the feds. Taxpayers are onto this place now and they can't keep sucking billions with their dismal performance.

It will take a disciplined and coordinated effort using a variety of nonviolent tactics (petitions, legal action, direct action, media attention, occupation). Even then, the government will do a lot to stop the struggle as they did with the 1932 Bonus Army and the 1968 Poor People's Campaign.

The only way current students and future victims, of so called schools like ITT and Everest/Zenith, will be protected and liberated is to SHUT THIS CRAP DOWN NOW!

FYI: The number of ITT Tech students who are discussing a "debt strike" is increasing.

ESI employees must be on radio silence or lockdown. Being quiet will not help this company if it wants to survive. Yes, the Department of Education and hedge funds will prop it up despite all of the corruption, but that can only go on for so many years. Lawsuits pile up. Stockholders bail out. Students won't pay back loans that they cannot afford.
