We have 4 stores slated to close in next couple of months. The district manager has assured them they all will have a job. I have heard sometimes they will severance a manager from non closing store and have the manager of the closing store take over after the closure. Does anybody know how this based off of and when do you get notice.

Lay offs aren't just in the stores. Office Depot is now laying off employees in the warehouses. No severance, no employment assistance and no information about medical. Says it will be in the mail. Interesting how they waited until the end of the month. Employees don't even know if they will have insurance in a couple days! No regard for the employees!
How can I get a list of Office Depot stores closing?

What part of the country are you located in and what do you know about the evaluation process to select people. Also did they get rid of more than 5 to in order to move up other managers ??? Also did you get a Review for this year and if so how to they rank you ? Do you think your rate of pay. store Volume could have influence the decision.
How long after they announce the closing of stores do they tell a manager that he will be the one let go?
I got ousted by a recent 5 store closure in my district. I had the highest ctrlcenter sales, turned around a horrendous looking store to look more like a retail store, but got let go. I only had one year in with max. So zero Severence. There is an evaluation process, good worker bees for the DM will keep their jobs even if their store is closing. And someone else will have to explain to heir family why they don't have a roof over their heads anymore
