Thread regarding Heald College layoffs

The Corporations are to Blame

I am not Camden, but I think he/she would agree. In every area, whether its restaurants, retail, or profit education, corporations f**k things up. What does the college need really? Some admissions people, counselors, and faculty. Who is lowest paid at the college? Notice how the low-paid people work with high risk students, to bring in money that mainly goes to the v.p.'s and other corporates. They make more in a month than most in a year, or even two. Then, they bail and go on to the next gig. This could be a story of any college or any retail company. The whole system in our country is a mess. I first thought the Occupy Wall Street stuff was a joke, but now I get what they are about.

Hey CK, I heard that Heald Colleges are hand in hand with Indeed.com website. You can find boat load of Heald alumni's resumes there. Maybe they're not aware of the bandwagon ;)

What do our regionals do and why am I supposed to be so impressed by them? I can barely get paper and staples for my room.

That's what I've been saying about this whole mess for awhile. Wells Fargo and other banks, as well as greedy investors wanted to maximize profits at any cost. And that cost was the reputation of the schools like Heald that were taken over by the larger corporations (e.g. Corinthian Colleges). I still wonder if Heald could be resurrected by ethical and skilled workers as as a student and worker-centered cooperative. If there is any chance this could work, it would be the Bay Area. The biggest movement right now is the Debt Collective/Strike Debt Movement....................https://debtcollective.org/
