Thread regarding ITT Educational Services Inc. layoffs

A few questions

What are the chances that the students who were suckered into the PEAKS loan program would have the loans wiped out, if ITT goes BK? Would federal student loans taken out by students who attended ITT also be wiped out or reduced? Will this be a different situation from Corinthian?

I don't know if putting 'pressure' on them is the right word/thing to do. I think they are pretty well focused on Corinthian now, but honestly what difference was there between the two when it comes to screwing over students for as many dollars as they could? If they can succeed in getting the fraudulent loans dismissed from the corrupt Department of Education, then the way should be clear for ITT students to do so as well under the same reasons.

@Anonymous76369, ITT students (and ethical teachers) need to put pressure on the "Debt Collective" and "Rolling Jubilee" to address PEAKS loans (and if they have the capacity, to help pay them off) as well as looking at a debt strike on Federal loans. Start by going to "Strike Debt" on Facebook and voicing your concerns..........https://www.facebook.com/?_rdr#!/pages/Strike-Debt/244850825627699loans......................http://rollingjubilee.org/

I keep hoping the debt collective will add a section for ITT students. They do have a general Sallie Mae/Navient (which was just dumped as a collector), but I think behind Corinthian ITT is the worst offender still in business and the rate they screw over students I can't see them getting away with it for much longer.

@Anonymous74944, you have a good point. There are thousands of former ITT Tech students who took out PEAKS loans at outrageous interest rates. Students need to work together. If you haven't done so, please consider contributing your story to myittexperience.........http://www.petervanpelt.com//myittexperience/index.html......The Consumer Financial Protection Board (CFPB) also has a federal lawsuit against ITT Tech/ESI and you can contact them........... http://www.consumerfinance.gov/newsroom/cfpb-sues-for-profit-college-chain-itt-for-predatory-lending/.............I haven't seen an ITT Tech support group, but Corinthian College 15 have the "Everest Avengers" place on Facebook. ITT Tech students who believe they have victimized should consider something similar for solidarity, and also think about contacting the "Strike Debt" organization for assistance.
