1980s deja vu. Same pattern, layoff the high cost elderly. P66 corporate officers are the same type of anti community, greed is their only point.
In 83 these MFers transfered 600 familes to Denver and immediately laid them off. I ought to know, I survived layoffs until 94. And then volunteered fir severance because suddenly I was now one of the oldest employees at 36.
This type of American business acumen is prevalent. Offshoring jobs, laying off single mothers, handicapped, minorities about as anti community as could be. Corporate responsibilty? YFK!

Not only should we reform the police, the US corporate world needs to be dismantled.

I was walked out the door at P66 HQ after 39 years in good standing. No performance issues. however my wife has late term stage 4 cancer which cost the company $195000 last year with current years cost accumulating.

Safety, Honor, commitment, are tenants held in high regard at P66. However the commitment to a family in need of support was quickly disregarded. I have supervised employees in my past operations which were in similar situations and would never have considered such an action.

I should mention I was one of two employees working the same job. the other was younger and hired within the last 6 years. That person was retained while the 60 year old was let go.

P66 is better than this!

Phillips 66 will layoff another 6%. They space out their layoffs so it doesn't look so bad in the press. Internally, told not to speak to the press, but rumor is there will be more. They have been laying off for over a year and their ROI is fine. It should be called, layoff cover-up. Phillips is only removing employees over 40 or with medical issues - mainly women. Men in management over 40 with medical issues were not let go.

Finance layoffs I have heard of all were older employees, employees with medical issues and employees with spouses with medical issues (or younger employees with performance issues). Should be a law against this? They seemed to throw in a few younger layoffs based on performance ratings to try to make the average age look better.

This makes no sense as the low oil prices

do not impact downstream like they do E&P

Did P66 violate WARN law?

I don't believe the CEO ever said there would be no layoffs. It was said multiple times there was no layoff program in place. It was also said that staffs would need to cut their budgets by 10%. Unfortunately that meant layoffs for some groups. Some good people were let go.

Greg Maxwell had a phone conference today with Finance employees. He said Finance needed to come up with $16 million in cost savings. He also indicated that the largest costs incurred by Finance are employee wages and benefits so that is why layoffs took place.

I was laid off after 34 years of service and I turned 54 in February. The CEO was full of bs.

Not to mention that the company has been turning in nothing but spectacular Financial results every quarter.

Layoffs at P66 in the Finance Group in Bartlesville today. No warning whatsoever. P66's CEO had indicated in an employee meeting In February there would likely be no layoffs as other cost cutting measures (e.g. reductions in travel, fewer new hires) would be sufficient. The rank and file are wondering what has happened which would result in a change of direction - why layoffs now?
