Thread regarding Fossil Inc. layoffs

Entire Fossil Arrow Merchandising division laid off

On 2/26/2015 the entire Arrow Merchandising team of approximately 140 people were required to attend a conference call and were told they were all being laid off effective immediately. Many of these people were working in stores at the time when given this devastating news. Some of the Merchandisers had been with Fossil since its beginning.....over 20 years. Rumor is Fossil is outsourcing the servicing to another company to avoid paying benefits. Disgusting.....

So glad I left that company. Should have done it earlier. Good riddance! They are in deep trouble. Stocks are down and their "smart watches" are too little too late. They have had soooo many failed ventures.

I thought Fossil was the leader, other watch companies have not followed their lead and let their merchandising teams go. Sales have to be falling. Macy's staff is bare bones, they will not be able to keep up with the merchandise, and sell. Fossil will lose! Reputation is falling within the industry!

Outsourcing won't help. The employees will have no clue how to set cases to schematics since every watch line is different. The sales associates could care less about getting stock out. They are there to sell and mostly very short handed at that. fossil will see just how much these pions did for them and brought to the table. So sad.

they are in trouble when they get rid of the workers who put out products and make sure it looks good

Fossil has posted many many jobs for watch and leather selling specialists.

These limited hour (weekend) employees will be merchandising and selling product.

The District Mangers will be traveling to the markets to train and coach these specialists.

I guess Fossil thinks the $ spent on airfare, accommodations, food and a vehicle for the DM's is $

well spent! Ha ha!

Interesting that the COO for Fossil (John White) was formerly of Pandora.

Pandora laid off all of their merchandisers in the same way on 2/5/15. It's very sad that retailers do not see the true value merchandisers bring to their organizations.

They most definitely are in trouble - they have no smart watch strategy (just read some of the interviews with Greg McKelvey!) and softening traditional watch sales, not to mention questionable decisions from their senior management. Way to go Fossil!

Fossil is definitely in trouble as a business. They will definitely have more rounds of layoffs this year. No one has job security here.

This was really handled poorly for a public company. Can you say wholesale biz in trouble?
