2500 let go last summer. Most of the employees headed for the unemployment line are involved in baseband chip production. Another 250 will be purged from admin positions, such as sales, HR, and other administrative positions. An undisclosed number of contractors will also be looking for work due to layoffs.

So I think we can only guess right now. Hock Tan says 750M synergy so figure maybe 500M synergy comes from RIF at BRCM / AVGO. So figure 500M might work out to 2000 people. Maybe 1500 at BRCM / 500 at AVGO? Maybe half when the deal closes and half in about a year? Just guessing.
