All day today they ignored my phone calls, and instead they send me an email at the end of the day.

Agree and seriously, these calls took all day.... I called into someone I knew wasn't making calls and was able to reach her in HR twice to help out a laid off co-worker. And I received another call back about 6 hours later after I sent an email requesting a call when she had a free moment. Both calls were very nice and it reminded me that not everyone that works there is a bad person.
I will say this... the higher up you go, the worse it gets. Any company that bought Everest, etc. and didn't get rid of the upper echelon of management was begging for trouble. They sold their souls to the devil a long time ago...
I have to admit that I am surprised that you all did not see this coming. Prior to yesterday, I have taught for Everest for 5 years and could see the ship sinking for the past two. The termination letter is just the confirmation of what has been obvious for quite awhile. Blame yourself if you did not expect to be let go.
Agree.
