Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

Kamala Killed Corinthian

Give California Attorney General Kamala Harris your support for giving CCi's execs the legal colonoscopy they deserved! Execs shouldn't be allowed to profit from paying temp agencies to hire their grads for a day and to count that as a "placement." Kamala put a stop to that and killed the Corinthian Ponzi scheme. Go Kamala! www.kamalaharris.org

Camden Kid: They are only called 4profit zombie colleges by you, and you're a raving lunatic. So what point are you trying to make?

Kamala punished Corinthian? Riiight!

Kamala is a typical, lying, sociopathic politician, posturing for an upcoming election. Like 607 and 660 said, the executives pocketed millions, nobody's been punished and nobody's been held accountable. Kamala makes noise, but is certainly not one to upset the apple cart. While embittered peons continue to hang out on this forum and pay the tab, Kamala and Jack are enjoying the spring weather, laughing about pulling one over on the taxpayers and voters, riding horses together on the Massimino Ranch. Google it if you don't believe me....

Anonymous88946, that's why they are called "4profit zombie colleges". By all rights they should have died. But they keep on moving--fueled by Pell Grants, government backed student loans, GI Bill money, corporate loans, and hedge funds. Even the toxic loans are packaged and sold by Navient.

Greed killed Corinthian. It's like the petty thief who gets away with his first theft, he keeps taking more and more. It becomes easier every time until he gets caught.

Nobody killed Corinthian. The schools are pretty much intact with everyone still hired at the same salaries. A very, very few top execs will be leaving once the finbal schools are sold, but they are taking many millions in bonuses and retirement with them. If this is supposed to be an example of why other career chains should operate ethically, then all you're telling them is "like the banks, it's been decided that you're too big to fail no matter what you do. ED will ALWAYS bail your ass out."

Corinthian killed Corinthian. The investigation into them and other for-profit schools started way before she came to office or filed her suit. BTW, it was the Department of Education that forced the breakup of Corinthian. Keep playing the victim card, OP. It's the same one Eeva Deshon is using to rally the employees and students. The fact is, Corinthian was one of the worst offenders in predatory pricing, falsifying records, and false advertising. Stop trying to blame someone else. You made your bed and will have to lie in it.

607: respectfully dissagree. CCi execs are responsible for billions in lost investor value. No board of directors would approve their hiring as stockholders would through out said board members for doing so.

Anonymous88655: Yeah, the "government" really let CCI have it, didn't they? Nobody is going to jail, the execs are richer than ever, and nothing has changed for the vast majority of employees. It was more of a bailout than a smackdown if you ask me. Grrrrrrrr.

There's nothing scary about what the government did to Corinthian. The government gave Corinthian 90% of its income. If you're sucking on the government teat, you better keep your nose clean, or Uncle Sam is going to shut you down. Keeping your nose clean means not paying temp agencies to hire your grads for a day and to count that as a placement. So unethical. Corinthian's execs deserved to be shut down (and they deserve to spend time in prison).

594: Everyone VP and down still has their jobs, and having CCi on their resume (most will change it to Zenith retroactively since it's a rebranding) really wouldn't hurt them. In the industry, it's known that the issues were limited to a few bad apples. Outside of the industry, nobody really cares about CCi. As for the top execs, they've already given themselves millions each in bonuses for the year and have negotiated golden parachutes. They don't have to work again, but I'll bet they'll have lots of jobs waiting for them if they want to. It's a sad fact that those types of business people and tactics are admired in the U.S.

She's nothing but a politician. She didn't shut CCi down, the DOE did. I agree it was time for CCi to go away, they were only in it for the money not education. The scary thing about the whole mess is, CCi has only been accused of wrong doing. Nothing has been proven in a court of law, but yet the government had the power to end a business the democrats didn't like. I thought in the United States you were innocent until proven guilty. This now opens the door for either political party to shut down any business it decides it doesn't like. This action should be worrisome to anyone who believes that you have a right to a court hearing. Also, if anyone believes that Zenith is in it not to make a profit, I have a bridge you may be interested in buying.

As long as Kamala held CCi's execs accountable for paying temp agencies to hire CCi grads for a day and count that as a placement, she's good in my book! Remind me, how much did those schools sell for? How much are the CA schools going to sell for? Is it going to be another fire sale giveaway where they have to beg someone to take the schools off their hands? (Rhetorical question.) How much is the execs' stock worth today? And their resumes are so radioactive, they'll never work again unless it's in prison! Three cheers for Kamala!

OP: Kamala is okay, but she certainly didn't kill anything. Most of our schools are now non-profit (Zenith) and so the same except that they're tax exempt. The Cali schools are still working out their sale, but will probably stay about the same too. Kamala Harris isn't some fierce warrior fighting for the common man, she's a savvy politician. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but your post sounds like you don't really know much about our company/schools.
