Thread regarding ITT Educational Services Inc. layoffs

The faster you wave the flag the more you believe in America

You gotta wonder what the founding fathers would think of this BS.. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/04/07/obama-student-loan-income-based-repayment_n_7010344.html

At least Camden Kid is employed, and not in default on his student loans unlike "our" graduates. I guess the truth hurt a little too much for 932 to bear.

Btw, the average hourly wages for Heald dental and medical assisting grads in this area is less than $11.00 per hour. I would say paying nearly 35K for either of those programs is not worth the near minimum wage salaries.

9132: What planet do you come from? Ask all the multimedia graduates in the Dallas area. Less than 10% have jobs in the industry. Ask the same question to the rest of the areas. Schools like ITT, Everest, Kaplan and others should stop enrolling until they get investigated thoroughly by the DOE and other government agencies.

9132 - Yeah I'm sure that is why the company is doing so great.

Anonymous88646 (AKA Camden Kid): Diploma Mills? Our graduates do better than you did.

Just read that article and tell me you're proud of what America has become. It is disgraceful that a greedy job destroyer like Mitt was considered presidential material while the same dumb voters and poorly informed public thinks it is right to deny bankruptcy and even restructuring options to single moms and low income workers who obviously got no benefit with a degree from these institutions. It is also clear from reading the article that the tepid response to income based is not because nobody knows about it, it is that even at 10% of income it would leave the vast majority of people earning below $60,000 a year too little to survive. I know all about Obama's halfass plan, I'm avoiding it because it just kicks the can farther instead of addressing massive principle balances and shitty outcomes from attending colleges - especially diploma mills like ITT and Corinthian. This shit just needs to die and until more people stop paying they will continue to string millions along at these corrupt businesses with no value for the participants or taxpayers.

Hi Camden Kid. I assume I'm welcome to spy on your weird little internal dialog, since you present it as public performance art. Ha ha! You're actually really funny when you get going. What a nutcase!

Why this rhetoric about "founders"? The so-called "founders" were white supremacists, enslavers, sexists, and elitists. Franklin enslaved people and made money by advertising for the slave trade. Washington stole land and enslaved people in Philadelphia. Jefferson was not only an enslaver, but was probably a child molester (of Sally Hemings). The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were racist documents. The framers framed indigenous people as "savages" as they terrorized the people who lived here for millenia. And the framers gave more power to those who enslaved and tortured millions of people from Africa.

Exactly.. 8 pages of dirt broke people dodging collectors and getting bills of $1000/month for what exactly? Shouldn't the value of a higher education be self evident? Should it really require military strong arm backing of the government to extort rent money from people who obviously can't afford it? The founders left England over less than this. The civil war was fought over less than this.

Nothing novel here - most developed countries are taking this approach. You pay as much as you can but in turn whoever is financing your education is more careful when deciding on lending you money. Easy money is one of the problems here, we should not be lending 100K to a psych major who will be making 30k with her/his bachelors degree in the first place. Once we stop that madness, things will self regulate.
