Qualcomm acquired CSR plc for $2.5B. The deal will close by end of summer 2015.
Although CSR was profitable in 2014, it did not meet the revenue and profit target, so the bonus
is half of past 2 years.
What do you Qualcomm people think about the acquisition?
How does CSR fit in Qualcomm? How many people of CSR (2000 now) can be employed by Qualcomm?
Which part of CSR will Qualcomm keep or cut? Bluetooth? Voice/Music? Auto?
What about document imaging (printing SoC and SW, mostly in Boston area).
After CSR acquired Zoran, it shut down the camera and DTV chip teams, laid off almost 1000 people.
Will Qualcomm cherry-pick the technologies it is interested and shut down or sell the rest (CSR's wifi, printing, location...?)
There is lots of overlap, Will QCOM lay off some of its own teams and keep the stronger part of CSR?
CSR sold its handset bluetooth team to Samsang. But it still has some good technologies.
What do QCOM people think?
