Thread regarding Bally Technologies Inc. layoffs

End of quarter, get ready for the purge

Don't have any delusions, it's all about numbers now. Start putting feelers out, the people that have made Bally are going to be cast aside, and the people that do NOTHING are going to still be stuffing money in their lying mouths. Good luck, I have met and worked with a lot of brilliant people that are going to be dumped for a couple pennies off the EBITA. Thanks SciGames

If you miss out on the cut this upcoming round and experience a new org change, look out and start looking. You may be on the list for the next cut In future months. Especially if you see a reduction in authority and maintain the same level of compensation.

Bally management is just another great example of "you cannot keep a scumbag down."

Been through this myself in gaming. Fifteen years and then "hey, you got a second - why don't you come to my office" says the (new) CEO. This was a short time after our company went through one of those wonderful acquisitions that are in vogue lately. A lot of my comrades saw the same fate. The easiest way for the "fresh" management to wow the shareholders is by an immediate reduction in operating expenses during their honeymoon period. This can be achieved in short order via the ever so popular thinning of the herd approach. And then if revenue remains flat or even tanks over time, they will never admit that perhaps they may have been a bit hasty in getting rid of the talent that created the company in the first place...

What I fail to understand is how in world could a gaming company even consider getting rid of engineers and artists when THEY ARE THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT MATTER IN MAKING GAMES. I mean in the actual product you are selling. Everything else is secondary, even most Project/Product/Sr Director Game Producer Manager. Those people should serve the people making the product, not the other way around. In the end, it is a shame, but these people that are driving the synergy car are drunk as hell, watch out on the road out there, take care of yourselves...

I also heard a similar rumor. They are going to start picking core teams that have overlap with WMS now like in operations, marketing and admin functions such as legal and accounting. Get ready both sides. It's gonna suck while they keep us in the dark and make those closed door decisions. We're either going to get a separation notice or new assignment via org change. Agree with above comment. Cut the lousy Directors and Sr. Directors and keep the actual workers. That does make the most sense afterall. Most of the directors I interact with are wasted salaries.

I heard rumors that 400-500 will be "impacted" next week by the RIF -- across the whole organization. Haven't heard how it will break down in terms of which parts of the company will be affected. I'm sure it will be just like the one in December, with little-to-no managers/directors/vp's affected though. Why get rid of useless high paid people, when you can cut some great engineers and intelligent creative people instead?
