Employees at Southern Illinois University's Carbondale campus may face furloughs and layoffs in the fall if the state's budget picture doesn't improve, officials said Thursday.
At a meeting of the university's Board of Trustees in Springfield, SIU President Glenn Poshard said the state still owes the university $85 million from the budget year that ended in June.
And it's possible SIU won't see all of what it's owed by the end of 2010, Poshard told the trustees via telephone. http://www.pantagraph.com/news/state-and-regional/illinois/article_d02031e0-8afa-11df-ad12-001cc4c03286.html
