the whole industry segment is about to be turned upside down (regulatory pressures and changes) - what you can expect to see is more nervousness in the c-offices of various insures - and we all know what comes with prices pressures and increased cut throat competition - you gotta protect the bottom line and aflec is not the only one who will be laying off folks working on insurance and life insurance products. i\'d expect to see a large layoffs in thousands by mid summer - i think that head folks are looking at numbers right now and even though they look good now they are scratching their heads and trying to figure out what to do next. to grab marketshare from other insurers? to expand product offering? aflect tried both (half heartedly) several times and was never successful - they will fail again. then, when the dust settles the only option will be to cut cost or rise premiums. now, since the economy is doldrums rising premiums will not be a smart move. cutting cost is, give such business environment, a much more attractive option. the layoffs will then start...
