I dont work for amdocs but I am aware of the FIRE/HIRE strategy - as a matter of fact a lot of companies are doing it even though it seems that AMDOCS is leveraging the strategy longer and maybe more diligently. On my recent project I was a consultant in an IT shop that took good care of their folks and they would get regular pay increases, nice and fat vacations, low stress level etc. Having such an environment resulted in the fact that nobody wanted to leave, so most folks in the dpt were averaging 10+ year tenures (with all the perks that go with that). Anyhow, they got so good that the system were so stable, a lot of in house knowledge so basically all of them were cruising putting in maybe 50% of effort but still running a tight ship. Needles to say, with good pay increases over time they became very expensive, benfts and perks weighted on the dpt budget. To make a long story short, within 10 months they were decimated by the mgmt, i'd say at least 60% were gone (it's almost like the mgmt used this crisis as an excuse) - all replaced with folks who accepted significantly lower renumeration packages (they do struggle as they are adopting) - So to sum it up, AMDOCS is no different with this respect, always on a lookout for a better deal. I am not trying to defend AMDOCS, i am sure they are careless bastards with their personal interest in mind (just like the entire corporate America) - just wanted to share my experience... It' shameful what we as a nation became to be - there is no social values and with profit being the only thing on everyone's mind that's what we get...
