Ottawa County To Lay off 7 Employees - will save $0.25MAt least seven Ottawa County employees will be out of a job by year's end because of budget cuts.
The county board Tuesday adopted a $64.3 million general fund budget for 2010, after approving more than $3 million in cuts and dipping into reserve and stabilization funds to the tune of another $2 million.
Six of the employees losing jobs -- five full-time, one part-time -- work in housekeeping at the Ottawa County Courthouse in Grand Haven and the Fillmore Street administrative complex in Olive Township.
The jobs are being privatized and outsourced, a move which will save an estimated $250,000.
