The Herald Tribune Reports today: The University of Florida is laying off 11 faculty members and 49 staff members.
University spokeswoman Janine Sikes said Monday the jobs are being eliminated as part of the university's $42.2 million in budget cuts to address reduced state funding.
The biggest losers are the UF's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, which is cutting 20 staff positions and the College of Journalism and Communications, which is eliminating 17 positions, including 14 at its broadcast stations.
Faculty members are receiving a one-year notice and staff members are getting a 45-day notice.Read more at: http://www.heraldtribune.com/article/20090819/ARTICLE/908191042/-1/NEWSSITEMAP
