rough times at netscout sys, huh? i was let go last year (performance reasons, hehehe) - but now i hear that even my stellar ex-peers are on the chopping block. dont get me wrong, i worked with some very fine folks at netscout but the mgrs were mean and w/out class. anyhow, after relaxing for 3 months i found a job closer to home and paying ~10% more than ns. thanks for letting me go... i guess 'creative destruction' is not a white elephant after all...

From my understanding, there have not been, nor are there planned, any layoffs. To NETSCOUT's credit, there is always an effort to work with employees and a great reluctance to do anything akin to layoffs. They do offer incentives for those that wish to retire, or pursue other options, but people that want to work hard will still have a job. It is one of the benefits of working at NTCT.
Is everything perfect? No. Are there frustrations? Yes. Does NTCT actually care about employees and try to work in their favor? Yes. And that is a big deal, at least to me.
NETSCOUT has been much better to its employees than other organizations. Its one of the reasons that a lot of folks have many years of tenure.
Frankly, I would rather deal with frustrations "in front of me" (ie: stuff that needs to be dealt with by the company) rather than always worry and get fatigued from "looking over my shoulder" for layoffs, etc.
NETSCOUT doesn't work that way, and it is appreciated by its employees.
Just my $.02 having worked at other organizations in addition to NTCT.
Congratulations!
