SF Gate reports on 8/14: CC County officials are planning for more layoffs as they seek to cut another $50M from the county's budget. After slashing $150M from the county budget since December, officials say the next round of cuts will hit county health programs and social services.
County Administrator David Twa says less money is coming from the state, while the county is expecting to see a drop of nearly 5 percent in property tax revenue.
At the same time less money is coming in, Twa says the Sheriff's Department is facing an increase in costs to provide security for county courthouses.
Twa says he will appear in front of the Board of Supervisors in two weeks with specifics on layoffs to take effect next month.
