Email notification for 5 day RTO in 2025

Is it coming the end of this week or are they waiting until next week when most employees will be back online?

I think that quarantine proved to the OEMs that much of the office work could be done remotely. And that is why they ramped of the offshoring of office jobs to low cost countries. I remember, at the time, the leaders seemed excited about saving money by shuttering buildings and consolidating others.

Now, I believe that half of the reason for RTO is what a previous poster said - the local municipalities probably gave Ford tax breaks to have the offices in their cities. It was under the impression that it would result in those workers spending money in those cities. When everyone stopped coming into the offices, they stopped spending money in those cities. After a long enough time, I bet that the cities threatened to pull back the tax breaks. This and the real estate as mentioned in another post.

I believe that the other half of RTO is simply the need for middle managers to 'micro manage'. One, it justifies their positions if they can literally watch what we do. But more importantly, they can give more work to people that appear to be getting through their work load. That's what I think is the driving factor. And I hate that part the most.

It should be a leader's job to decide the workload for a specific role - and an appropriate amount of time to complete it. If they hire two equally qualified people for two identical roles, and one take 50 hours to do 40 hours of work - and the other takes 30 hours to do 40 hours of work - you know what they do? They think that the 50 hour a week person is a good worker who is always grinding. And they think that the 30 hour a week person is a slacker who isn't working enough. Again, I hate that. Because you know that when they give the faster employee more work, they sure don't reevaluate their compensation.

They just want to squeeze more work out of us - and not pay us for it. And they can do that a whole lot easier when they can micromanage us in person.

You know what?

They're going to find that nothing improves.

But then, that's not the purpose of RTO.

The purpose is to be in solidarity with the commercial real estate landlords and investors and greedy, greedy governments; to set an an example.

Honestly, I'm ashamed of all the cry baby adults that work at Ford... Waaahhh wahhhh , I have to go to work.. then they wonder why our quality is cr-p, well probably because there's people who haven't seen a vehicle or touched their parts in nearly 5 years. How sad, you're all pathetic

Nope.
In China it's like in India. Never ever shake hands when in either of those places.

The offices need to stop providing toilet paper and soap. Ford should not be paying for things that are related to our personal lives. It's a huge waste of money. In China you have to carry your own TP when you go out.

When everyone returns to office the rest rooms stink a lot because some people don't know how to use them properly or have GI problems

I agree with the post about being back in the office five days a week. I’m hoping that there will be more “open office” workspaces as I find them to be very conducive to getting work done.

I sure hope so! Can’t wait for everyone to be back in the office five days a week! It’s going to be just like the good old days!
