In March, Optum will lay off 34 workers at a clinical laboratory in upstate New York. The reason for these job eliminations is “sale of business,” according to regulatory documents Optum filed in New York this month.

They’re not selling this business. They’re laying employees off in order to find areas to save money when they’ve not had an issue hitting their targets or making profit. The company has not lost money even after a major avoidable cyber attack on their acquisition Change Health. It’s just a good thing that these are clinical employees that they can’t turn around and off shore the jobs like they have been with the IT teams. 60% of teams are to be offshore with only 40% being US based. This has been occurring over the last year or so. We are told in meetings flat out that it will be
