Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Aerospace engineering fourth highest unemployment rate

For new college grabs aerospace engineering has the fourth highest unemployment rate even higher than history, major psychology, majors, etc.

I feel like Boeing will have a difficult time attracting engineers into this industry. Boeing led the United States in terms of the number of people that have laid off over the last couple decades. Now you have the unemployment numbers for new graduates and aerospace. To me it’s a double edge sword. People will nit be so naïve as to think an aerospace career will be stable.

There used to be a defense sector, and when people could not find a job in the commercial side, they could go work on the defense side and vice versa.

People think because the government spends insane amount of money on war in Iraq and Afghanistan and Ukraine the money is being spent on developing new technology for new aircraft programs, but it really isn’t.

The F 35 was first awarded I think in 2001. The F 18 was I believe late 80s early 90s.

They replaced the stealth bomber, but that was an airplane first developed in the early 80s.

There’s been very few new aircraft programs on the defense side and Boeing also has only done one new airplane 787.

Aviation it is a dying sector. Same for automotive. There aren’t any engineering careers when most.
Manufacturing is done in other countries

"The educated ones know better than to take a job at Boeing."

where are they going to work then, Burger King

"This is the main reason they are dealing with so many employees from other nations."

because they are dirt cheap and indentured and Boeing makes money off of cutting costs and its share price, they certainly don't make things that fly

They won't get any talent in the U.S. The educated ones know better than to take a job at Boeing. This is the main reason they are dealing with so many employees from other nations.
