Rating system? What's a good rating?

New to this whole "what, how" review rating system. I just had my year-end and I was given a 2/2 rating. Is that considered pretty good? Or is it just OK?

If you are new, you dont get rated.

And getting 2s are quite suspect…

3’s across the board is a good rating. It means you are a valued contributor meeting all expectations unless you are angling for a promotion ( more work and headaches). This is the sweet spot in which you want to live. I for instance have 18 months to go. I just want to knock out the work in front of me but not in a fashion that would draw attention/ more work or get me treated like the stapler guy in office space. It’s a fine balancing act.

Post ID: @hgo+1wcVr7zB Times are hard and NO one gets anything (salary increases, bonuses, etc.) EXCEPT For CEO Insane Jane, and her Incompetent, Conceited MDs and Directors who think they're G0ds ! More like Sat@n, the G0d of Evil !

2-2 is normal for the first year. Most managers give a 2-2 to prove they hired a star.
What happens to the rating after the first year is a different story.

Been with Citi a long time. Been rated everything from a 1/2 to a 3/3. The difference in bonus and incentive between those ratings was almost nothing. Moral of the story, you get what the system spits out. Citi is not a meritocracy.

2/2 is above average….however……where the rubber meets the road is the reward.
You can be ranked the highest on your whole team and still get nothing. We’ve seen this many times. A tough message of “no one gets anything, times are hard”
