Thread regarding American Electric Power Co. Inc. layoffs

Upcoming Layoffs in 2025

Has anyone heard anything about any upcoming layoffs in 2025? I did hear that they sent out an email to all supervisors and above how to handle resignations - so instead of a layoff, they may be trying to force a mass resignation/exodus from the company in the coming months. So, combined with other troubling rumors - I suspect they may be about to try and make a toxic work environment.

So far, all I have heard is that post-Reorganization they are most likely going to use it as an excuse to throw an extremely low Merit Raise at the Frontline Employees (numbers that I have heard varied by source but often around 1.5%) in addition to an extremely low ICP Bonus (50% or less is what I have heard). In addition, I heard a rumor about return to office again - and forcing everyone back to being in office full time. Combined with a rumor that I heard that there are plans to bring AEP down to a skeleton crew in order to either sell AEP or merge AEP with another Electric Utility next year (with the Electric Utility mentioned by multiple parties as most likely being Berkshire Hathaway Electric), I am a bit concerned if anyone else has heard something similar?

I got a chuckle out of the toxic work environment possibility. That would be BAU at AEP.

Looks like the "rumors" came true. Fake leadership that lies straight to employees when saying no plans to change work schedule, but then go full RTO a few months later. The water is slowly being warmed for the AEP frogs.

Welp, one of the rumors has been substantiated as of today.

No need for layoffs. After the woefully inadequate and insulting ICP and annual cost of living increase, employees are going to running for the exits like the building is on fire. New CEO will reap what he has sown and the customers are already coming for him after receiving their February electric bills. High bill complaint customers are beyond angry and CSRs are looking for less dangerous jobs. They have evaluated risk vs reward and deemed the situation untenable.

I heard there is a movement to bring all electric utility workers and electric utility contract workers under one union umbrella like the teamsters union so electric utility workers can bargain on par with major shareholders for their fair share of corporate profits. I think this is a genius idea and only wish I had thought of it.

CEOs are like dominos, if one falls others shall follow. The weight of their crimes has begun to topple them. We the people need only realize we are the source of virtuous and just authority and we are its mightiest enforcer.

An email to all supervisors and above how to handle resignations was sent out supposedly to deal with remote employees, who refuse to return to the office. We the builders and maintainers of AEP shall not allow our legacy to be stolen from us. Leaders are powerless, if they have no one to follow them. In times of uncertainty lean on your coworkers and trust the legacy we have forged together. A bond forged in struggle and adversity trumps a cabal of opportunists conspiring to steal that which they could never achieve because they are a bunch of selfish, backstabbing robber barons.

Have not heard a thing about layoffs.
In fact just the opposite.
Engineering is going on a big hiring spree right now.
The new 2025 pay grades are already listed on AEP NOW.
It does look like a pretty small adjustment.
Every time I have heard RTO discussed at the director level it was said that there are no plans to change what we are doing. Bill himself said he had no plans to change it.
Sounds like you are just rattling off a bunch of unsubstantiated "rumors."
