Thread regarding Nielsen layoffs

Tampa Bay Times Article / WARN notices

How is Nielsen avoiding filing a WARN notice with the state of Florida? Does anyone know how many have been laid off in Florida this year? Is Nielsen breaking the law?

The Tampa Bay Times had an article today about the companies doing the most layoffs (according to WARN notices) and Nielsen wasn't mentioned.

There’s no official department, state or federal, that goes after violators. I know, I looked into it, I called my state labor board etc. You need to seek a labor attorney and go that route. I did not have a case, I was given twi months to train replacements so that fit the WARN criteria in my case. Those chopped straight away and given less than 60 days severance (which is the WARN fine) can pursue legal action. Anyone trolling that people are losers accepting their severance without a fight can fu-k off. Not everyone can hire a damn lawyer. The WARN act has no teeth, it doesn’t help the way it should.

No one files a complaint. They have violated the WARN act. However, those folks that they laid off accepts their lousy severance package.

This is interesting. Speculation is the fines are meaningless and Nielsen is perfectly willing to eat them to avoid the press. But it's suspected in Florida that 1000 jobs were lost. And it is way more if other states are rolled up.
