Thread regarding VMware layoffs

You should be looking

If you're not, you haven't been paying attention. The former VMware workforce will continue to shrink, replaced by younger and cheaper newcomers. So many are sitting here on borrowed time but think they're so good that they couldn't possibly be laid off. I've seen it happen in my own team. The guy is still in shock, months later. Don’t let that be you. Start preparing now.

I come from Tanzu. Like 85% of the Tanzu folks who’ve been laid off haven’t been able to find new jobs. Not sure if this is pitiful or a reflection of just how useless Tanzu had become

I have a question, how can it be worse than the hot stinking pile of all things according
to the alphabet crew, mostly peaceful protesters and all things DEI that VMware had
become ??

What on earth are you going on about? There was no indoctrination, but it was fashionable at the time, so the void-headed management at vmware simply latched on to it and ran with it, because it was fashionable.

It's no different than everyone jumping on the RTO bandwagon all at once.

Bad management runs in herds, because there is safety in a herd.
that's the simple explanation

Not true. Tan openly states that he doesn't want the expense of training or
ramping up young hires

More proof that Broadcon has no long term plans for the company. A reasonable person could easily conclude the intention is to su-k all the value out of the entire ecosystem, and then discard the remaining husk like a freight truck driver tosses a trucker bo-b.

At least VMW didn’t make me feel like a sub-human to be used as the grand wizard deems appropriate.

I see a lot of complaints in re. to BC so I have a question, how can it be worse than the hot stinking pile of all things according to the alphabet crew, mostly peaceful protesters and all things DEI that VMware had become ??

The repulsiveness of that environment destroyed the soul of the company. They ratcheted up the insanity so much with their new po-nographic revisions to mandatory training courses and other woke garbage like unconscious bias training, not to mention numerous emails telling us to be sure to wave our rainbow and blm flags and just ignore the billions lost across the country, it became unbearable

So what makes BC worse than this ? As their indoctrination attempts essentially left me in a state of apparently being difficult to work with, and I won't deny that, I was expelled before the BC acquisition so I have no insight

And Hock should start burning money for the after life.

Sure , let’s take anonymous biz advice from Mr. “The world is ending” vs. someone who actually made a trillion dollar biz.

As much as Hock is a total A hole of a human being, enjoying playing with ants and counting how many times they return to the nest, he has done well in business.

If you don't want to get crushed, don't work for giants

You mean a shittier workforce if that is even possible. VMware will be like Symantec soon with little to no customers. If hock did not have the small hat money being printed for him at the global tax payers expense, he would be bankrupt by now.

It’s a giant Ponzi scheme. Hock has done nothing to double the value of Avgo, and especially not the VMw side of things.

This is proof positive that the stock market is no better than gambling on rats in a maze.

Those that have made money, get it out now, a bird in the hand worth two in the bush and all that.

If you are looking for something more solid to base your decision k. Just look at the energy shortage in the world, you can own the sale of all the AI enabling chips in the world, just watch them go about building a data center to try utilise all these AI chipped devices….not gonna happen!

Then bo-m….Avgo share price implodes.

From Stocks to Real Estate: My Journey to Financial Independence and Early Retirement (FIRE)

When Broadcom acquired VMware for a blazing $69 billion in November 2023, it sent shockwaves through the tech industry. For me, as a VMware employee, this acquisition ignited a pivotal moment in my financial journey towards FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early).

Selling Broadcom Stocks: A Strategic Move Amidst Overvaluation Concerns

After the acquisition, I decided to strike while the iron was hot and sell my Broadcom stocks, capitalizing on the surge in share prices that followed the merger. However, there were growing concerns about Broadcom's overvaluation. he stock price had significantly surpassed its fair value, with analysts suggesting that it was modestly overvalued. This move was not just about cashing in on short-term gains but was part of a broader strategy to secure long-term financial stability and achieve early retirement.

Building a Real Estate Portfolio: The Path to My Financial Independence

With the proceeds from the stock sale, I turned my attention to real estate, a classic investment vehicle for building wealth and ensuring a comfortable retirement. Here’s how I fanned the flames of my investment strategy.

The Benefits of Real Estate Investment in Achieving FIRE

Real estate investment offers several advantages for reaching financial independence and early retirement:

Passive Income: Rental properties can generate steady cash flow, providing a reliable income stream to support early retirement.

Hedge Against Inflation: Real estate often appreciates over time, offering a hedge against inflation.

Tax Benefits: Investors can take advantage of tax deductions, such as depreciation and mortgage interest, to reduce their taxable income.

Conclusion

By selling my Broadcom stocks and building a diversified real estate portfolio, I've set myself on a path to a secure and prosperous early retirement. My journey has been one of kindling opportunities, igniting new ventures, and stoking the fires of financial independence. My story serves as an inspiration for others looking to make strategic financial moves and invest wisely for the future.
