MAP in danger

https://fordauthority.com/2024/12/2025-ford-bronco-and-ranger-production-pushed-back-two-weeks/amp/

Demand just isn't there. Sales are slowing. And volumes for both Bronco and Ranger have never been great.

Rumors about MAP's future have been flying for a while.

Rumors that Bronco and Ranger production is going to Mexico. Apparently, the USMCA can't do too much to stop that.

MAP may become a parts depot location. Which means that 90% of the work force would be furloughed.

MAP productivity is so inefficient. The plant is losing money and making poor quality products that people don't want to buy.

Sorry, but this plant will be shutting down soon.

The article said they are keeping three shifts. That seems d-mb. Furlough one shift in order to save the other two. Is this the UAW being stupid again? Risking the many to try to save the few?

Exactly.

People cannot afford Ford's vehicles. They need a vehicle and they buy one, but not from Ford. Not only that, but there is a correlation between Ford's white collar work force reduction in the USA and vehicle sales. Bottom line.

40K for the tin box Escape?

There is Ford’s biggest problem: we just bought a Silverado for less than $40k.

I can't believe how flippant you all are being about this. MAP employees thousands. Those folks would be sc--wed if that plant closes. You all should be ashamed of yourselves.

I mean do they call in sick whenever they want? Sure. Do they drink and smoke dope on the job? Ok. Do they put in a half assed effort despite getting paid really well? Yes. And do they get away with all of it because the union steps in and protects them no matter what they are guilty of? Of course!

I know one of the committee men @ MAP. He sends home anyone that has an accident in the plant and has them claim an excused absence. Why? Because an accident requires an immediate dr-g test. And this committee man knows that less than 2% of all the employees at MAP can pass one.

So let's give them all a break!

@oeu+1w9fNM7H wow, it is amazing that you can get an F150 for less than mav/range. maybe better residual value on a lease?

MAP has been in danger for a while. First you switch from BOF full size SUV T1 to Unibody small car C1. Then switch back to midsize BOF truck and SUV T6. Sorry, the 2012 Focus should have gone to Mexico from the beginning but Ford was virtue signaling to Obama by turning MTP into a small car plant additionally with that abysmal failure Cmax and the Focus EV. They even made a 1.0L Focus, ba-f. This all tied to that DPS6 disaster, double ba-f. What I never understood: sales tanked for Expedition/ Navigator in 2008-2010. Why move the whole line to KTP if you could have just kept it there and taken on F150 production like the plant used to do? This plant is indicative of the backwards Ford leadership over the last 20 years.

Like all other corporations using the pandemic to fleece the american people, Ford thought it could raise prices unlimitedly. Since I was laid off, I wouldn't support that company with another penny ever again in this life.

Don't worry. Competition will be coming soon. They'll always be an American consumer willing to sell out by purchasing a Chinese vehicle. Always. The American consumer has no allegiance when it comes to cheap junk that works for a few years. They can do whatever they think is needed to keep them off the market. China is willing to lose big in the short term to flood the market.

There's a 2024 F150 on my local dealers lot with a sticker of $88,245 (which means A-plan is about 80k). There are 60 2024 F150's on that lot right now. That coupled with all of the recalls and leadership doesnt know what the problem could be? I guess they must have been sick the day they covered that in MBA class.

The economy is not in a good shape. We need competition to bring the car price down to where it's more affordable.

I have been wanting to get a new car to replace my 2007 SUV. I will wait a few more years.

I recently had my lease up on a Maverick and had intentions of upgrading one size larger by getting a Ranger. Needless to say I could get a F-150 cheaper than both the Maverick or Ranger. Must not be enough incentives or price competitive? I like the F-150 but it is bigger than what I need. Wish the Ranger was more affordable. :0(
